"I was disappointed with our experience at this restaurant. It started with us ordering a bottle of wine priced over $70. When the waiter offered us a taste, we accepted, but unfortunately, it was quite unpleasant—sharp, tart, and short on the palate. We informed them that we didn't like it, but felt pressured to go ahead and drink it, as it seemed like choosing a different bottle would be an issue.
Next, we had the crab cakes, which had a lot of potential. However, they were essentially crab cake balls that had been dipped in batter and deep-fried. They lacked lightness and needed something to balance out the heaviness. It was disappointing because I could see their potential. But when something is deep-fried, you often lose the delicate flavors, especially with something as subtle as crab.
For my main course, I ordered the ribeye. Again, it had potential but didn’t deliver. I requested it medium rare, but it came out more on the medium well side. Normally, I wouldn’t make a fuss, but since this steak was over $100, I expected it to be cooked properly. That said, the crust on the steak was quite nice.
On a positive note, the pear martini was excellent, and the sides were decent. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Overall, the chef needs to refine these basic elements, especially given the high prices. I won't be making the hour-long drive to return anytime soon."
