"It was a bit disappointing. There was a sign advertising two apple pies for $1.50, so I ordered four, anticipating a total of $3. However, my receipt showed a charge of $4.76. When I inquired about the discrepancy, the cashier informed me that the difference was due to tax. I pointed out that the tax is usually listed at the bottom of the receipt, but she insisted that tax is applied to everything. Oh well, good to know—though it seems that Pearson’s tax rate must be over 50%... yikes!"
