"This s my local, and I 'm grateful to have an option this good so nearby. It 's not a Michelin starred kind of place nor the equal of long ago Mina 's in Woodside, Queens, where (thanks to them knowing everything about cooking and nothing about restaurant realities) you 'd get amazing made to order from scratch meals, if you had an hour to wait. But after maybe a couple hundred meals from them over the years, I 'm telling you this: they 're *way* better than average, with food notably superior to 90 95% of their higher rated local joint peers. That quality is consistent over time and over the very extensive menu. Flavors are very good; spices are used in the copious quantities appropriate to this cuisine, with fresh curry leaves etc.Would they be ranked higher if they dumbed those flavors down to India lite as so many places do? No idea if that 's the issue, but while 3.8 could be a reasonable rating if we actually reserved 5.0 for the price no object best of the best, it 's ludicrous when so many mediocre, similarly priced Indian places throughout the city get a half point more.An entree with rice is a solid dinner; no need to add a soup or app to have enough food so the value is solid too. But order via phone or in person to avoid the unfortunate fee for ordering online, which I think is a pretty recent change."
