"The good is amazing, definitely one of the best in Madison...yes, I know it's in Monona. Staff is friendly and food is delicious, what else do you need to know? This time I had the lamb Rogan Josh hot, sooo good. The masala tea, peshwari naan, and crispy roti with chutneys were also very very good. And you can order mild to extra hot, I think on any dish. I was with a fairly large party on my most recent visit that concluded a lot of people who never had Indian food before...and they all liked it so, it's got to be good right? I always suggest, if you're new to Indian food good starters are chicken 65, vindaloo, tikka masala. Obviously curry is amazing, but sometimes it takes a little bit to work up to curry. There's nothing to be scared of most people just think it's going to be too heavily spiced or too hot, but like I said, you can order mild. All The new people ordered mild, I mean, this is the Midwest after all. Personally I really like the heat and they will actually make it hot for you, just because you order it hot doesn't mean that the restaurant will actually make it hot, here, it does and I very much appreciate that. It's also very filling which is nice because then you get leftovers! So if you've never had Indian food before this is definitely a wonderful place to go because I can guarantee you'll get quality food. I'll be back again. Also, for people who like me who are concerned about covid, the staff is masked and they seem to space tables out well. I say seem because we were in the back room at the very big table and the last time I was there it was before covid was a thing. I'm assuming you can get takeaway, I don't know about delivery."

"This has been an ongoing problem with RED PEPPER. We have been going to this place since it opened. The problem is their lack of knowledge of food safety. They habitually put out raw chicken (Tandoori). This has happened the last 8 times we have gonethere for lunch. I tell the manager and he says ok . They never remove the chicken that was put out and just leave it for thenext potential customer. For a buffet , they are SLOW to replenish the food that is already out. You have to TELL THEM thatthey are out of an item. Service is always decent and your water glass never goes empty. Today, I believe the owner was thereand I had the privilege of showing him the raw chicken his restaurant is serving and told him that this was not a isolatedincident. I told him that this negligence can result in someone getting very sick (I speak from experience). It could alsoresult in a fine with the board of health. He just said that he would tell them, took my plate and left. He and the managernever came out of the kitchen. We have been going to this place since it opened....and told that to the owner. I also told himthat his restaurant is not the only Indian restaurant in the area and we would not be coming back again. He did not seem fazedor really cared. It is sad that yet another vacant storefront will be decorating Rt 22 in Scotch Plains. Nearly $39. tip andbarely ate anything. I guess its money well spent to just get that final F-IT attitude. If the manager and owner do not carethat their cooking practices are potentially dangerous to their customers health, then we do not care to take a risk for foodpoisoning or worse. Rest in Peace Red Pepper. You were good for a long time.....but it is the last time that customersremember."
