"We visited Lao Sze Chuan in Chicago Chinatown purely based on its neat authentic red decor, but were then dazzled by the spicy dishes. Service quite on-key, and we were given free parking for dining here. For complimentary appetizer, we received a Spicy Cabbage in Chili Oil that was refreshing crunchy with bursts of heat. It was nice start. This was followed by Steamed Pork Belly with Mustard Greens, a savory dish that relies on the umami flavours of the tender pork bellies. We were especially impressed with Chef Tony's Special Dry Chili Chicken, a huge plate of boneless chicken bites that was unapologetically spicy aromatic. We happily consumed till full with our bowls of rice. Turns out, this is in fact one of well-known Chinese restaurant chains in Chicago. The owner ate at the table next to us with an associate. We read later he rose to local fame success, only to to serve time for taxes!"
