"This unassuming little local gem is doing things their own way, and it works. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. While you may have a main server, they all take care of all of the tables, so we really had four servers. It wasn't overbearing, but we were never left waiting for anything and the coffee cup was always filled. The coffee is the only thing I wouldn't recommend. It was hot, but weak and lacked flavor. But it's the only thing that does. Now for doing things their own way, they reinvented classics in their own style. Take the biscuits, which aren't biscuits. They're a sponge dough baked in a pan, cut into huge squares, then cut in half and grilled with butter. They are light, moist, and airy, filled with tiny pockets of air like a crumpet. If you just eat them without the expectation of a southern biscuit you will find that they are quite tasty. We also had their corned beef hash. They make their own corned beef here, so the hash is 100% scratch made. Again, not your typical hash, but delicious nonetheless. Portions aren't the typical super-sized portions. They are actually a healthy portion that will leave you feeling satiated and not overfilled. This was a nice change from the typical greasy spoon. We're putting it on the list to come back and try their fried fish and hush puppies."
