"I 've never been to Southside Deli before, didn 't even know it existed. Driven by it thousands of times but, well, no excuses. So when I found myself with a hungry tummy and a desire for a good sandwich, I didn 't expect Google to show me a place a block from SMH.Parking is tight in the area, 4 spaces right in front and more on Hillview but busy times are going to be .... an entertaining excerise.Or you can call your order in and pick it up at the drive-thru window. A drive-thru at a non-fast food restaurant? That 's nuts and terrific. The menu is displayed on several flat screens above the counter but they change kind of quickly so it took a few passes to read everything and make a decision. To say my muffuletta panini was 'hot off the press ' is both an understatement and a terrible pun. It was delivered to my table within 2 minutes of ordering and I couldn 't pick it up for a minute without risk of burning my fingers. This place is a well-oiled machine full of friendly staff. And it is really clean, it looked like it just opened at the start of the lunch rush.Once it cooled down a few notches it was a tasty sandwich. The olive tapenade was milder than on other muffulettas I 've had but still a good, fairly light lunch with a pickle spear on the side. And now that I know they 're there, I 'll be stopping in again.Plenty of space for the walker wheelchair crowd to navigate. The front door is wide and the tables seem well-spaced. Might be a touch tight getting to the bathrooms, though, as cases of drinks line the hallway."

"ZERO STARS!!! I am absolutely DISGUSTED at the service we experienced today and will NEVER be returning to this establishment. The manager on duty was the most disrespectful woman I have ever encountered and should be fired immediately. We came in for a birthday celebration for my grandma and had 8 people plus one baby (8months). Since they only sit 8 at a table, we were told that since the baby would be sitting with us, that we couldn’t all sit together. They separated our party and forced the two teenagers to sit by themselves in a booth where they couldn’t even talk to the rest of our party. We politely requested that we all sit together, and even moved the high chair so that the baby wouldn’t be taking an extra seat (he sat in his mothers lap). The manager insisted that we could absolutely not sit all together because there were “9 heart beats,” even though the baby was not taking up any additional room. She continued to argue with us and was incredible rude for the remainder of our time spent there. Her reasoning for refusing to accommodate us was because she couldn’t make exceptions or other people would take advantage of that. I completely understand having specific procedures and expectations for guests, but to count a BABY as a paying patron/fully functioning guest is ridiculous- especially when we made arrangements to ensure that the baby wouldn’t be taking up additional room. When we asked for a supervisor/owner or contact information to relay our experience, she refused to give us this information. We left before even being served since we weren’t even able to sit together. I am disgusted at how we were treated this evening and will never be returning. It is my hope that the manager (larger elderly woman, since she refused to give us her name as well) is terminated immediately since we will be relaying our awful experience to everyone we know. As a server, I have NEVER been treated so awfully by a person that should be trained in customer service. Based on the other reviews, people agree that the service is awful."
