"On a positive note, I was surprised by how clean the bathrooms were. I needed to use them and was a bit hesitant, but I found them satisfactory. They could certainly use some attention as well, but they were still much cleaner than the rest of the restaurant. Someone really needs to take the time to clean this place up. I love Long John Silver's and always enjoy their delicious food. I stop by every chance I get, considering I live almost 30 miles away in Wattsburg. "I always forget Long John Silvers because it is located in a different area than the rest of the fast food restaurants in the city. It's delicious, but it's also very fat, so I don't often eat there. Once a great time. I like her chicken and her fries with vinegar."

"I was passing through the area and decided to stop. It was 12 noon on a firday, so lunch rush. I dont write reviews often, but I was thoroughly impressed by the efficiency of the staff as well as the freshness of everything I ordered. Everything was correct. Nothing was cold or stale. I had plenty of napkins and silverware, too. This daylight shift deserves some praise."

"it has been for two years since I was with this long john silver’s, because I didn’t like the service, nor the way that food was presented to me at that time. I decided to go on and give it a try because I wanted to try that grilled garnel and lo and to see that the garnels were so small it was ridiculous the rice was so gooey without taste and cold. I asked for cocktail sauce twice in the window they asked me to pull me and wait for my meal when he brought me my meal, there were no serviettes, no forks, no cocktail sauce. I will not return to this long john silver’s it is completely ridiculous"

"Pricing is ridiculous and the order taker wasn't very good at all. They didn't have packages of tartar sauce but instead used a little cup and 1 squirt of sauce. I got a 15 package of fried shrimp and it was delicious also purchased 2 piece of fish and more. I also tried the new cheddar curds I felt that they were over cooked."

"The drive-thru employees could use some training in both skills and manners. It appears to be a common issue, except for at Chick-fil-A and Grab a Java. I find myself nostalgic for the not-so-great service we experienced in the '90s. Both young workers and adults at the drive-thru seem uninterested in their jobs."

"I went through the drive thru at 7:05pm. I was behind two cars. I got up to the window and still had to wait a while for my food. Also didn’t get handed my drink the whole time I waited on food. I finally got my food about 7:40pm. Waited a few more minutes on my drink, honked my horn but got ignored. There was about 5 or 6 cars behind me that had been waiting as well, so I pulled around to the front and went inside to get my drink. I understand being short handed but nothing was said by the associates and the female was just standing there waiting on food to help drive thru but maybe she should’ve been helping in the back with making food, since there were no customers in lobby. Just poor service. You go through the drive thru for quick service. No one should have to wait 35 minutes in the drive thru and then still have to go inside because their order wasn’t complete."

"02/19/2024 We hadn't been to Long John Silver's in years, but while we were in Mt. Vernon, we noticed that the location was still open. The restaurant appears to have been recently updated and is very clean. The staff was exceptionally friendly, and we received our order promptly. Everything was served hot and had a nice crispiness to it. The hush puppies were delightful, with a light crisp exterior and a tender inside. We definitely look forward to coming back!"

"5 stars for service quality of food. We were passing thru on our way from MO to Indy dined in on Friday 11:30am. The staff was very cheerful and helpful. The food was hot and likely the best LJS I've had in 30 years. The bathrooms were clean. The building itself needs serious TLC and updating but that isn't something I'd hold against the people working. Corporate needs to fix it up soon, they are only doing themselves a disservice by letting it look like it's falling apart on the outside when the people and food on the inside are gems."

"Ever since Long John Silver's closed in Hanover Park, we have been craving their food. However, after stopping at the location in Downers Grove off of Farnburg, we will not be returning. The other reviews were correct. My hunchback was overcooked and as hard as a rock, and I never received my hush puppies, which is a disappointment. Additionally, they did not offer any desserts. It would be better if they closed this location and opened a new one in Hanover Park. The greasy food was unappetizing."

"I received my food just 25 seconds after ordering, but it was missing the sauce. When I asked for some sauces, the cashier handed me the wrong ones while noticeably bleeding from his hand, without a bandage. Once I got to my car to eat, I found that the chicken was dark brown with black spots and incredibly hard, while the fries were cold. This is usually my go-to spot, so I was really disappointed and upset. To make matters worse, an employee’s car was blocking the drive-thru, forcing everyone to go inside."

"The prices here are absolutely outrageous. I purchased a 16-piece family meal a few months back for $34.00, but just a few days ago, it cost me $54.00! It feels like daylight robbery. The selection of sides was disappointing as well. The corn we received was old and looked gray, and when did they stop serving corn on the cob? Whatever happened to the breadsticks and cheese sticks as sides? The vegetable options were bland and tasteless, and they even offered hush puppies as a side when they're already included in the meal! With the exorbitant prices you charge, I would expect a better variety. At this rate, we can no longer afford to dine here. Thanks to inflation for ruining everything!"

"I have visited this restaurant a few times. I used to enjoy Long John Silver's, but the quality of the fish has declined. However, I still enjoy their coleslaw, hush puppies, and some other items. My family probably eats here about twice a year for a quick meal. Our most recent visit was enjoyable, with excellent decor and service. I tried a deep-fried Twinkie, which was not very impressive, but the fish was well-cooked. I like to have mine with malt vinegar to keep it crispy."
