"This happened at the Zazzo’s on 7360 IL-83, Darien, IL 60561. Service was horrible. From the start our server had a combative and disrespectful attitude. She saw us standing at the front being the only ones there and did nothing. I had to go get someone to ask if we could be seated and only then did she approach my friend. When asking about products in the menu, she kept on giving smart-ass, sarcastic responses. Our server also never checked if the food was good either. During the entire dining experience, we had to wave her down a couple times because she refused to look our way or in the direction of our table. A crucial part of being a good server is checking if your patrons are having a good time, enjoying the food, or if everything is alright. She was the most incompetent server I have ever had. Or possibly, let me rephrase, the most intentionally ill-mannered server I have ever had. She maintained a disdainful attitude throughout the whole dining experience. When we were finally able to get her attention, we asked for water which had been missing the entire time. She would’ve never filled us up had we not said anything. Because, again, she made it very clear she had no intention of checking on us. After having asked for water, she left without saying anything. So, I had to ask again as she walked away without showing any signs of acknowledging what we said, and since I had to restate what I wanted again a little louder, she said, “I heard you the first time.” without looking back and with a rude/aggressive tone. She said her name was Brianna, but I doubt she was honest when I asked her. She was a skinny brunette at the Zazzo’s in Darien. Possibly in her 40’s. I can’t help but think this was very possibly a racial discrimination incident as the friend I was with looks very Mexican. Say what you will, Zazzo’s, but her attitude spoke more than words and I/my friend will never return and will never spend a cent in this business. This is unacceptable. So, there ya have it, if you’re Latino/hispanic, don’t go to this place as you will not be welcome. Don’t support these businesses that treat people differently based on their appearance. By the way, there was an older gentleman behind us and she checked on him several times and never gave him any of that nonsense attitude. If you have bad experiences, speak up! Don’t allow this from businesses, especially when you are paying to get some hospitality and get the exact opposite! There are several other negative reviews about dining experiences at this Darien location claiming similar experiences of a discriminatory nature. One can defend and claim there is no discrimination, such promises are meaningless when staff’s attitudes and behavior show something entirely different.
