"I was pretty excited to experience a New Mexican restaurant, as lately I’ve been doing so much of a pizza haul. Sometimes I just need a big Margarita, so that’s what I did. Well, of course I got food as well! This Mexican spot is located in a little plaza-type area. There was plenty of parking. My girlfriend and I went inside and waited a moment to get seated. It was pretty quick. They seated us at a booth. The restaurant is clean and kept up with. Our waitress came to our table rather fast. I ordered a diet soda and we got a 50oz Traditional Lime Margarita On The Rocks. The diet soda was in a decent sized cup and it was very refreshing. The Margarita was huge! It was served in a very large glass-type serving cup. It was a smooth drink. The salt around the rim topped things off nicely and geez, this thing got my vision furry. Make sure you share this one with a partner, because I can’t imagine what would have happened if I had it all to myself. The drink was $22.00, but they didn’t cheap out on alcohol or quality! We ordered a Small 8oz Guacamole Dip for an Appetizer and I got the Burrito El Salto for my meal. They brought us chips and salsa to start with. I doused them in salt and pepper. The chips were great quality and the salsa was a very nice blend of chunky meets blended. It had a nice spice to it that aroused as I went on. These were an awesome start to show us their food! The Guacamole was crafted nicely and served in a sufficient holder. It was enjoyable to say the least. I recommend it. Our food came out really fast. I was surprised. It seemed like we ordered and waited about four minutes. The burrito was a pleasant size and filled with grilled chicken, steak, bacon, beans, sour cream, guacamole, and cheese. It was topped with tomatillo sauce and cheese sauce. It also came with lettuce, tomatoes, and an avocado slice. To rate the dish as a whole, I’d give it around a three out of five stars. I’d say it was too heavy on the beans, which took away from other flavors periodically. I wish it came with rice, but it did not. It was $16.00, so it wasn’t the cheapest. The lettuce and tomatoes were nice to have on the side and were good. I didn’t try the avocado slice. I’d also say that it would have been better if only one sauce was present on the top of the burrito opposed to two. The service was really fast here. We were helped by multiple people. Our waitress was very friendly. Everyone worked as a superstar team. Overall, I enjoyed everything on a higher spectrum. I would definitely make changes to my burrito next time or order something different. This place has superior quality, so I would definitely have no issues or worries ordering a different dish. If you’ve had some bad Mexican food in your life lately and want the real deal, look no further. Try out El Salto and be prepared for a night you won’t forget. You might forget it if you take down a 50oz Margarita. I warned you."

"Dos estrellas por La Lomita Dos. This place is incredibly worn and mediocre. We came with a group of 8 having called ahead a few hours and making a reservation. We were seated promptly for dinner upon arrival and service was professional and attentive. The menu is conventional Mexican-American. We received chips and salsa with free refills. They were on par with El Torito and Chili 's. Not even as good as Chevy 's, On the Border, or Chipotle. Maybe a half-star better than Taco Bell. The burritos, fajitas, and other entrees we had were meh. We also had a pitcher of strawberry margarita; again nothing to write home about. Portion sizes were reasonable, prices were competitive but pricey for the beat-up atmosphere and cheap quality food. If this place is farm-to-table than so is my old high school cafeteria. You won 't be seeking this place on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives because Guy Fieri isn 't looking for bland flavor-town. And you won 't see my millenial daughters posting photos on instagram or foodie websites because the food doesn 't look exciting and tastes like it looks. The most irritating thing about the place, though, is the fact that they charge a fee for using a credit card. Tiny stickers by the front door warn patrons about the fee, but they are no more prominent than the Visa and MasterCard stickers in the window that people routinely ignore. It 's a hidden way of jacking up the price a few percent yo cover the credit card commission and leaves the same impression I get from the airlines that charge to check a carry-on- not customer friendly! As I mentioned, this place won 't be on the Food Network or Cooking Channel anytime soon. Unless, of course, by some miracle it ends up on Restaurant Impossible with Chef Robert Irvine taking his sledgehammer to the place. Let 's hope that happens sometime soon."

"Once upon a time, this spot was the reigning champ of Mexican eats in Phoenix, but lately, it 's been a bit of a wild ride. The last couple of visits have been like a comedy sketch. The first round, our server and I tried to communicate through a universal language of smiles and nods, but somehow I ended up with a cup of shredded cheese instead of queso. Eventually, someone else who spoke our native tongue (English took over our table, and our original server vanished like a burrito in a buffet line. Round two was even more entertaining. We sat down with high hopes, got our chips (win! , ordered some apps, and then our server pulled a disappearing act worthy of a Vegas magic show. I had to play detective and track him down at the bar to find out where he 'd gone. Another server came to the rescue, and miraculously, the vanishing act ended just in time for our original server to pop back up and ask how we were doing. Talk about timing! Props to the bartender who stepped up and saved the night with great service and delicious food--I always go for the Spinach Queso Fundido and the Chicken/Steak Fajitas here. The portions are hearty, and those complimentary chips and salsa are like a warm hug from abuela. Despite the server shuffle, the place oozes Mexican charm with its awesome decor and margaritas that could double as jet fuel (in a good way . However, they might want to send someone in with a mop to tackle the bathroom situation. Let 's just say the aroma wasn 't exactly fiesta-friendly."
