"I’ve been dining at Mandy’s Family quite often lately. While some chefs could improve their skills, I truly enjoy the cozy atmosphere, enhanced by the fireplace and flickering candles. Most dishes taste good, though I would appreciate smaller portions of carbs at a lower price, especially given growing concerns about obesity and diabetes. More restaurants should consider offering diabetic-friendly menus. The staff is friendly and efficient. I found the smothered chicken delicious, but the portion was too large; a smaller piece with the toppings would be preferable. The green beans were delightful. My friend enjoyed the chicken Alfredo but felt it had too much chicken and carbs. The salad was very basic, just lettuce, onion, and tomato. Since I dislike raw onion, I suggest it be finely chopped. I like that avocado is offered, but it shouldn’t come with an extra charge. Cucumber would be a nice substitute for onion. Another friend ordered the taco salad, which was tasty but had an unnecessarily large shell. Offering non-spicy options, like mild salsa, would be helpful. I found the meatloaf too spicy for my taste, and it would be better if this was noted on the menu for those sensitive to spice. The exterior was overcooked, and the ketchup would improve if caramelized during baking. The beef brisket was excellent, though the au jus was occasionally too salty. The breakfast options are good but include too many potatoes for those on low-carb diets. While the home fries are delicious, they’re easy to overeat. The sweet potatoes I had once were overcooked and lacked their usual color. I appreciate the honey mustard sauce offered, but the corned beef hash was too salty for me. Overall, my experience at Mandy’s Family was mixed."

"Absolutely, utterly, wholly amazing. I got The Meat Daddy (a sampler of 4-bone rib, jalapeño cheddar sausage link, 4 oz brisket, 4 oz pulled pork, 4 oz turkey, 2 sides, and a fountain drink) and a Pie Shake to top it off. Everything was simply delicious. MEATS: The turkey and pulled pork were my favorites. So tender, so savory, so moist, neither could have been better (plus, both were lean meats if you need a lighter selection). For my first time trying brisket, I enjoyed it, too; it was perfectly cooked as well, and I cannot wait to try it piled on one of their sandwiches. The ribs were smoked tender but in a firm sort of way (in my opinion, the ideal balance). The sausage link, with melted cheese oozing out, had a great amount of jalapeño spiciness and taste; enough to get a kick but not overpowering, and by far the best jalapeño cheddar sausage I've had. SIDES: A special for the day, the turkey-bacon-ranch pasta was creamy and refreshing and ranked my favorite. The baked beans admittedly lacked a substantial flavor but the texture was spot-on. SAUCES: I do not know what sauces I had (I asked for a variety, so next time I'll be sure to ask which is which). Each has its own distinct flavor, so try them all! DESSERT: A slice of pie or a shake is a must. Better yet, get the best of both worlds with an inimitable Pie Shake. The Mississippi Mud Pie Shake is amazing; it's a dense, fudgy chocolate filling (similar to a moist brownie) with what tasted like a graham cracker crust. They put an entire slice of pie in the shake! When I was getting takeout, the entire experience (from ordering to pick up to eating and savoring) was perfect. The lady on the phone was a complete joy to talk to, and she gave her full honest opinion when recommending what I should get. They are family-operated by the friendliest, most welcoming and helpful people. The Union location recently reopened for dine-in, but regardless of if you takeout or dine-in, you'll be supporting a local family during such unpredictable times."
