"My partner and I had dinner at the bar on a slow Thursday evening. We've been to this restaurant a few times before. The gumbo had a delicious, rich roux base, and I enjoyed a draft Abita root beer. My partner ordered a hamburger, which was just okay, and the fries were lukewarm. Unfortunately, the fish and chips were a disappointment, with something dark and tough running down the center of the filets. When we pointed this out to the bartender, he didn't seem to know or care what it was. My fries were also lukewarm. The tartar sauce had an orange color and was not like traditional tartar sauce, which I didn't particularly enjoy. Despite this, the live music was enjoyable with a talented musician. We may return for the gumbo and try other dishes, but we will definitely not be ordering the fish and chips again."
