"I’ve always been willing to wait for pizza, especially since they usually provided an estimate when you called. However, after being told it would take 45 minutes to an hour, I was informed of another 20-minute delay upon arriving an hour after ordering. That extra 20 minutes turned into over an hour, so from the time I ordered to when I finally got my pizza, it was over two hours. They mentioned they were short-staffed, which I understand, but they should have communicated that when I placed the order.
I sympathize with businesses facing staffing challenges, but without proper warnings, it’s easy to see why customers get upset. Most people probably wouldn’t have ordered if they knew it would take this long. Regardless of staffing issues, a two-hour wait for a pizza isn’t reasonable, especially when you can get one in 15 minutes from Pizza Hut or in 30-45 minutes from Sergi's.
On top of that, they are still only accepting cash or checks, which has always been their policy. While they did mention this while I was ordering, it’s still surprising that they haven’t updated their payment options. I understand staffing plays a role, but this type of information should be upfront when ordering.
The pizza itself was fine, but it certainly wasn’t worth the two-plus hour wait. It’s disheartening to see Josie's in this condition. After being a loyal customer for nearly 20 years, I don’t really see a reason to return. You can find comparable or better pizza at other places in town, along with wings, and a reasonable expectation for when your order will be ready. I might consider giving them another chance in the future, but this could very well be my last order from Josie's.
