"Edit 5/28/2021 Updated to 5 stars! I have been back several times and have been 100% pleased. The service in person and on the phone is friendly and efficient. The food has been superb and Covid 19 measures are adequate and consistent. Edit: updated review and score 3rd visit: I decided to eat here after an exhausting shopping trip. It was close by and actually open which was a nice surprise as so many places are closed during this time of Covid 19. Several people were exiting the restaurant as I approached. They each had a box with bags of food for carry out. I wasn't sure if I wanted to sit inside or order for takeout, but decided to dine in. From start to finish everything was perfect from the food to fast drink refills, and friendly, efficient service. I don't know if Covid made them appreciate their customers more, but it's vastly improved from my two previous visits. 4 stars for this visit. I'm reserving one star as I still feel cautious about how I might be treated on my next visit. I wanted to like this place. I really did. I've been there on two seperate occasions and both times were not completely enjoyable. On my 2nd visit: From the moment I walked in, I was ignored by the two women at the front counter and was finally greeted by a lady who appeared to be bussing tables but was gracious enough to greet me with a smile and show me to my table. The waitress was quick to bring drinks and take my order, and my food arrived quickly, but the fun stopped there. I don't know how it's possible to make bland Chinese food but I actually added salt to my sweet and sour chicken because it didn't have much flavor. Even that wasn't enough so I put soy sauce on it too. That did the trick but it didn't solve the texture issue of soggy breading on the chicken. It seemed as though it had been cooked ahead and rewarmed before serving. I don't know. I'm accustomed to crispy breading though and this was too soft. The pork fried rice was good. It had bits of scrambled egg that were a nice surprise and the textures were pleasant. As I was leaving and trying to pay, the two women again ignored me and seemed too busy to help me until a regular customer came to the counter as well. They didn't even look up at me, just ran my card, said sign here, and walked away without taking my signed slip. I felt uncomfortable just leaving it on the counter. In the end, the only person who thanked me for my business besides the waitress, was the table busser who saw me leaving. I honestly did not feel welcome here. 2 stars because the food was edible. 1st visit: Friendly wait staff, fast service, blah food 2 stars ..................... If I go again I will adjust my rating to reflect that experience but so far I have been disappointed."

"Okay, this is not your destination if you demand Chinese haute cuisine. This is Canby, after all. But if you appreciate fresh dishes executed to perfection accompanied by superb service in an unpretentious environment then Joy Kitchen may make you happy. A group of four of us had lunch there Saturday and speaking for the General Tso 's Chicken? Phenomenal. Have I had better? Most assuredly but Peking Station 's gone, home to what many of us felt was the perfect rendering. Theirs was half broccoli florets, though, and Joy delivers the chicken sans accompaniment, dressed in a perfectly flavored and balanced sauce. One can request it spicier if the need is felt. I ordered their Vegetable Deluxe (Buddhist Vegetables elsewhere) and House Special Fried Rice to go and it was as if the little white Kari Out cartons had a bit of twinkle dust sprinkled on them. I also took the balance of my General Tso 's and a couple of cartons of white rice they threw in. That evening I plated dinner for a couple of relatives who found the vegetables, which I added a goodly amount of seasoned shrimp to, and rice delicious. They left with leftovers, too. Then my wife and I had dinner though we included some of the General Tso 's. Loved it. The next night we lazily revisited the leftovers and made another outstanding meal and had a quarter carton of the Fried Rice left. No end to the takeout as they packed the boxes, literally. Just simply dependable, warmly served and faithful renderings of old favorites. And the postage stamp dining room has a certain charm that complements the very attentive table service. A safe bet you shan 't regret."
