"For appetizers, they have edamame and fresh spring rolls, but I was disappointed to find that none of the soups are vegetarian. According to the waitress, all the soups contain either beef or chicken stock, which makes me wonder what the other reviewer experienced. There is one salad that could possibly be vegan, though I wasn't sure about the dressing.
The vegetarian section of the menu includes about five items, one of which has egg noodles, but the waitress assured me that the rest are all vegan. I opted to skip the dish that sounded suspicious and ordered the Buddha's Bowl instead since I was looking for a lot of veggies. I also requested an additional ingredient, but the waitress informed me that it would cost an extra $10.95, which seemed excessive.
When my food arrived, it was unremarkable, but there was something off about the sauce. Then I discovered a strange piece on my plate that I had to set aside. I called the waitress over, and she appeared visibly embarrassed. She returned to apologize and reassured me that the Buddha's Bowl is always vegan, but she didn’t know what had gone wrong. Thankfully, they didn’t charge me for that dish.
Having dined at many highly-rated vegan-friendly establishments, such as Hugo’s in L.A., I find it hard to fully judge this place. However, it’s important to note that veganism may not be a top priority for their kitchen staff, and they might not be accustomed to working with vegan sauces or ingredients."
