"First off, the entire menu has been revamped. The burger section, which used to be my favorite, has been removed – perhaps for the best, given my last experiences. Now, the menu has doubled in size, featuring a whole section dedicated to tacos, and yes, some old favorites have made their comeback. They also boast an impressive selection of craft beers with constantly rotating taps.
Now, let's talk about the food:
**Brisket Tacos:** Wow, who doesn't love brisket? Who doesn't love tacos? Certainly not my friends! Combine the two, and you have something I could eat every day. The rich and tender brisket, paired with a chipotle crema, is perfectly complemented by the salsa and the tangy pickled red onions. It’s sheer perfection wrapped in a tortilla.
**Turkey Avocado Stack:** (I don’t know why I removed this from my previous review, it’s a standout!) We absolutely love it. The turkey is smoked and juicy, and they really pile on a generous amount. The sourdough bread has just the right amount of butter and is grilled to perfection. We skip the mayo because the avocado provides plenty of flavor on its own. It’s served with delicious onions on the side, making it a perfect dish.
**Tri Tip Sandwich:** Tri-tip can be tricky – it’s temperamental and needs careful cooking; otherwise, it can come out tough. It’s clear they took their time to get it right. I opted for the deluxe version, which includes Jack and cheddar cheese along with fresh jalapeños. The combination of beef, cheese, and onions on bread is one of life’s simple pleasures. The sandwich has a clean taste, and the paprika adds just the right amount of heat. I initially worried that the salsa would overpower the fresh flavors, but it was a fantastic addition.
**Pig Sticks:** We decided to start with a small appetizer and were pleased with the choice. These ribs, however, were a bit of a letdown. They were overcooked and quite crispy – not necessarily what I was hoping for. Perhaps that was intended, but if I want bones with my pork, I’ll ask for them explicitly. The Asian sauce was rather bland and didn’t do much to enhance the dish.
Overall, these recent meals have turned my opinion back around, and I’m glad we decided to return. Armadillo Willy's BBQ is showing signs of improvement!"
