"Later, around 3:30 PM, I returned to find no customers present. We were seated again, and five minutes later, the waitress came by to take our drink orders and provided us with menus. I ordered an appetizer, and a few minutes later, the waitress took our food order. However, it took about 18 minutes for our meals to arrive, and the appetizer was missing. When I inquired about it with the person who brought our food, she had no idea what I was talking about.
Five minutes later, the waitress appeared, and when I asked about the appetizer, she admitted she had forgotten it. I asked if it was still being prepared, and she said yes, so I agreed to take it. I also requested tartar sauce. Ten minutes later, my friend spotted the cook in the hallway and asked her for the tartar sauce, which she brought immediately. Finally, 15 minutes after that, we received the appetizer, but it was a big disappointment—it was awful.
I frequently visit Colton's in other towns like Cape Girardeau, MO, and Poplar Bluff, MO, where the food is always excellent. However, the Sikeston, MO location clearly needs more waitstaff, especially from 2 PM to 5 PM, and possibly new cooks as well. The menu advertised two nice catfish fillets with a quarter rack of ribs that looked delicious, along with hush puppies. What I received was about seven small pieces of very dry catfish, and when I tried to break the hush puppies in half, they just shattered all over my plate. The rolls were also hard.
Overall, I was very disappointed, and I won't be returning to this Colton's."
