"For those who appreciate this cuisine, you’ll find yourself wanting more. It had been a long time since I enjoyed this type of food, and discovering this place was a delightful surprise. Besides the meats, they offer several vegetable options that aren't typically skewered but are incredibly tasty, like eggplant and needle mushrooms—definitely worth trying. Lotus is particularly delicious and traditional here. Each skewer typically costs $1.10, with no set minimum, which is reminiscent of Xinjiang skewers found on the streets of Beijing, making it a perfect snack spot. However, if you're planning to make a meal of it, you’ll need quite a few of those $1.10 skewers.
The restaurant is tucked away in a second mall next to Milpitas Square, so you won't stumble upon it by chance. I discovered it through a guide created by a group of Bay Area Chinese who call themselves 'The Gourmet Troop.' The space is quite small, and preparing the skewers takes some time, so patience is a must. One aspect of the place that struck me was its name, 奉天 (Fengtian), which unmistakably refers to Northeast China. Ironically, while the guide claims this is traditional Northeastern food, the skewers they serve are not representative of that region at all. Xinjiang is located in the Northwest of China, far removed from Fengtian's Northeast."
