"We felt embarrassed and treated as if we were unwelcome. It’s unfortunate, especially since we had a table for six and were ready to spend money. Instead, we left and won't be returning, and I will ensure my family hears about our experience. As a member of a reciprocal club, I can say that our guests from other clubs do not face such treatment.
Again, the club itself is gorgeous, and the location is beautiful. However, a little courtesy and an effort to explain the rules instead of making us feel like intruders would have been much more appropriate. We were there as guests for a regatta, and while I understand that this may have disrupted some members, a simple and tactful explanation would have helped to create a more positive impression for the six of us.
I want to add that despite our unpleasant experience at the restaurant, the commodore and the gas dock staff were fantastic and extremely helpful, which deserves recognition. For them, I would give 10 stars! Perhaps there is an opportunity for improvement in overall attitude throughout the club."
