"ZERO STARS!!! I am absolutely DISGUSTED at the service we experienced today and will NEVER be returning to this establishment. The manager on duty was the most disrespectful woman I have ever encountered and should be fired immediately. We came in for a birthday celebration for my grandma and had 8 people plus one baby (8months). Since they only sit 8 at a table, we were told that since the baby would be sitting with us, that we couldn’t all sit together. They separated our party and forced the two teenagers to sit by themselves in a booth where they couldn’t even talk to the rest of our party.We politely requested that we all sit together, and even moved the high chair so that the baby wouldn’t be taking an extra seat (he sat in his mothers lap). The manager insisted that we could absolutely not sit all together because there were “9 heart beats,” even though the baby was not taking up any additional room. She continued to argue with us and was incredible rude for the remainder of our time spent there. Her reasoning for refusing to accommodate us was because she couldn’t make exceptions or other people would take advantage of that. I completely understand having specific procedures and expectations for guests, but to count a BABY as a paying patron/fully functioning guest is ridiculous- especially when we made arrangements to ensure that the baby wouldn’t be taking up additional room.When we asked for a supervisor/owner or contact information to relay our experience, she refused to give us this information.We left before even being served since we weren’t even able to sit together. I am disgusted at how we were treated this evening and will never be returning. It is my hope that the manager (larger elderly woman, since she refused to give us her name as well) is terminated immediately since we will be relaying our awful experience to everyone we know. As a server, I have NEVER been treated so awfully by a person that should be trained in customer service. Based on the other reviews, people agree that the service is awful."

With a price range of $10 to $20 per person, it offers great value for the quality of food and service. The food was simply outstanding—I would give it a perfect rating of 5 stars. The Hush Puppies were deliciously crispy and packed with flavor, while the Crab Cakes were rich and delightful. Each dish was prepared with care and attention to detail. Service was equally exceptional, earning another 5-star rating. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome throughout our meal. Lastly, the atmosphere was inviting and enjoyable, also deserving of a 5-star review. The ambiance created a perfect setting for a pleasant dinner. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant, especially for their Hush Puppies and Crab Cakes!"

"Giving 2 stars because the staff was very friendly but it goes downhill from there. We were looking forward to the gator appetizer but they are having supply chain issues so it wasn't available. No problem. The drink menu has no prices. Again okay. Ordered bowls of the seafood gumbo and bisque. It was lukewarm, maybe 8 spoonfuls, and some of the rice was still hard. The bill came and had an additional charge of 3.85% for non-cash adjustment because the menu reflects cash price and not credit card. We hadn't even mentioned our method of payment at this point. We paid cash and had the server remove the BS charge that they're trying to slip by customers. You've been warned about their shady practices."

"Lunch was great as usual at Big Hickory! My wife and I went off-season during the week and had no wait. We opted to eat indoors since it was very hot outside. Unfortunately their air conditioning is not up to par as it was very hot inside also but better than outside. This time we tried the spicy Krab rolls (imitation crab meat) and Caprese salad. The Krab rolls were okay (they tasted like a volcano roll at a sushi place) were very filling. I thought they would be a little lighter but still tasty. The Caprese salad was really good; I would have like to see more decent quality extra virgin olive oil and whole basil leaves on this dish but it was still good. Big Hickory has some good weekly specials in the summertime but we opted not to pick the day's special (two grouper entrees) as it would have been too much food for the two of us to eat. I was glad to see them have some specials though. We will be back again and explore more of their menu items I'm sure!"

"We found this place by chance!! Coming from Virginia we had a big mix up with our pre booked hotel. After calling all the ?big name? or popular known hotels who either didn?t have a room or were asking outrageous prices because it was last minute and on a weekend, we found this Gem! We booked easily online and then called to make sure they had the reservation. The staff was so friendly and quickly made our room available with no hesitation. This lodge is located in a beautiful scenic area that is so warm and welcoming. We were welcomed by a wonderful staff in the restaurant and then showed to our room, it was facing the front road but had a private parking place right by the stairs to the porch leading to the rooms. The room is very clean and the beds are 10000% better then any hotel I have ever stayed at. The bathroom is small but clean and well stocked with extra soap and shampoo! And the towels were Soft and clean, not thin like you normally get. The room did include a microwave and mini fridge. When I am in the area this will always be my first pick to stay for now on. I can?t wait to come back and explore the area more. So if you are in the area and want a comfortable quiet place to stay that won?t break your wallet, this is it! I also can?t wait to try the restaurant it seems like a popular place and the smells from the kitchen are drool worthy."
