"I had my first visit to Abuelita's Mexican Restaurant, and I was pleasantly surprised to find the owners actively working in the restaurant alongside family members. In my experience, finding a genuinely family-owned and operated establishment is always a worthwhile adventure. The decor and atmosphere were charming, and I appreciated the warm environment. I stayed respectful and patient throughout my visit, and I certainly wasn’t disappointed. I enjoyed the Chorizo con Huevo and Barbacoa tacos, while my wife had the Migas plate, both of which were incredibly delicious. The small staff means you should be patient, but trust me, the food is worth the wait. I noticed other customers being greeted warmly, suggesting a closely-knit community vibe. I especially loved that both the flour and corn tortillas are homemade. I also tried the Calabacita with pollo, which was absolutely amazing. The staff was kind, friendly, and undeniably busy, contributing to the cozy yet accommodating atmosphere for families. The restaurant is open until 2:30 PM, but it seems that many great places close early for family time. This hidden gem is definitely worth the visit. During my time there, I was impressed by the owners’ hard work and their welcoming nature. The menu is extensive, offering a variety of authentic Mexican dishes including Fideo, Chicharron, Barbacoa, and Albondiga with Chipotle, along with all your favorite standard Mexican plates. I loved the food and plan to become a regular. They offer three different types of hot and flavorful sauces to suit various tastes. The restaurant is located in a small shopping center with ample parking, which is a nice bonus. Overall, I was delighted to meet the owners and experience the warmth of Abuelita's Mexican Restaurant in Hunters Hill Shopping Center."
