"I had a taste for soulfood, which I can cook myself, but I didnt feel like going through all the trouble if cooking several items for me just to have one or two plates. So I ordered and picked up a plate from here. I enjoyed the simplicity of ordering online for pick up and loved the no nonsense of the receipt it provided...you didnt have to figure anything out, it was very straight forward. I ordered tge 4 sides and a muffin. None of it was to my taste, or what I think of when I think of soul food. The greens were bland, no meat does not have to equal no flavor...a bit of seasonings and liquid smoke and they wouldve been good TO ME. The dressing had a different taste, Im used to sage and chicken broth, poultry seasoning, etc. This dressing didnt have these flavors. The mac and cheese tasted like Kraft boxed stove top mac and cheese but I prefer baked mac and cheese that stands tall when you cut it. The yams tasted like canned yams taken to the next level, though they tasted of the can, i liked this item best. The muffin was lightly sweetened and tasted ok. Overall the meal was ok, just not the familiar tastes and smells I look forward to when I think of soul food. I will give them another try to see if perhaps I would enjiy some of their meat options because my friend had the baked chicken and I enjoyed the small piece that I tasted as it was very seasined and flavorful."
