"Wednesday and Thursday Doug offers bbq chicken and ribs. I had the chicken with potato salad and his awesome jambalaya plus an added sausage link. The sausage was juicy and smoky cooked perfectly. I've been trying to find a decent bbq restaurant in Jefferson, Jasper and Hardin counties for the past 30+ years but had given up. I was stunned to find perfect bbq chicken at Doug Nelson's. Finally someone who knows how to bbq chicken that is moist and not over cooked with a great smoky taste and nice bbq sauce too. And the potato salad was homemade just like I like it. Not the bulk store bought tasteless weird salad everyone else serve. Trust me. You will be just as pleased as I was and the ladies there serving are awesome, too!! Great service!!"

"I had the crab omelette for brunch and it was fantastic. I returned the next day for lunch and tried the fish and chips, which were just okay - nothing really stood out in terms of flavor, quite plain and bland. The service on both occasions was friendly and quick. The restaurant offered a lovely view of the bay."

"The food came fresh and the salmon I got had NO bones which at almost every other place I always have bones. The fries tasted super good as well, and I usually don’t get clam chowder but I got some and it is super good. No complains, food came fresh and didn’t take to long of a wait. I also got a chocolate milkshake that was super good, and my friends said that they loved there food as well."

"I have been getting food from this place for a while now. Every time my order is treated differently. Most importantly, For take outs, they some times pour the food in food containers with no paper layer placed between the food and the tray. This is when I emphasize that there needs to be a paper layer there. I have found that once in many times they actually listen to you, most of the times they do what they want to do."

"Hear me out..Despite seeing most of the negative reviews; I decided to give Big Boyz BBQ a chance and give it a go myself. Sadly I’d have to agree w/ most of the reviewers on here.I can’t speak for how the owners are due to I used Door Dash to get my meal however they had to cancel my meal not once BUT twice due to they were out of certain items. I ended up just getting the barbecue ribs and they unfortunately were not good. The BBQ sauce coating the ribs was pretty bland and the ribs themself were undercooked. I’d love to give Big Boyz my business in the future and here is hoping they’ll improve."
