"Really innovative options for the veggies and the pescies err, pescatarians ? among us. I arrived on a Monday afternoon it's hard to find any place open on Mondays in South City and decided to sit on the patio, though it was arguably too cold for that. (I was warm from walking and optimistic. Their chips are fairly good, but their salsas were the standout: salsa fresca, salsa verde, and one made from dried chilies. I ordered sopes and tamales. I had heard of but never tried sopes, but they're a great vegetarian option just beans, cheese, and pico de gallo on a corn cake base. It comes with guac, as well. I also tried both the jalapeño and cheese tamales and the bean ones. The bean were plain but delicious with the salsas, which I'd hung onto so I could enjoy them with my meal. The jalapeño cheese ones were a revelation. Who knew vegetarian food could be this exciting? My server was Fede and he was fantastic. He checked on me many times and asked how I liked everything. I had to get a to go container, as the sopes appetizer could easily be an entree, but I'm not at all upset about having another meal or two at home!"
