"This bar definitely has a location that lends itself and seems to get older locals. There 's a social environment created where they feel free to sing their hearts out to the songs they like. I tried to quickly look up if they have karaoke, but it doesn 't appear so. Maybe they should consider this or cater to their older crowd in this manner that much more? I went here off of an add for free pool play Saturdays 9 11 PM. Wasn 't able to show up until 10 PM. One player was leaving. A few others played by themselves and I went to ask one of them. Two other people played each other briefly. One of the guys seemed to be having a hard time walking. So I figured, I 'd not approach him unless he approached me. I was playing at a pool table by myself for about 40 minutes or so. I kept looking to see if there were people I could feel comfortable enough asking if they wanted to play and also posted online to ask if anyone was available. It is now 5 days since that post online and no one has responded to it at all. Gives a really cold vibe. Later on, the available bartender approached me and was warm about talking about how the Sun 9 ball league is an excellent group and that I can consider 9 ball and not just 8 ball specifically. She also told me that the community is warm and great. Based on my own experiences, I think I have to disagree with this for myself. It 's been pulling teeth for me to find out the names of different leagues and asking around about how signing up on a team works and scheduling and finding people I can play with or even get to know. i didn 't even know that there 9 ball would have a league in itself let alone 8 ball, or that 10 ball or jack and jill was a thing either. In a casual league that I 'm in in the city, a competitive player told me he had to start his own team and was totally turned off by the community in the same way I was. I thought it was just me. I didn 't even ask him what he thought about the community I just simply told him about my interest in competitive pool and this is what he told me. Another place I was instructed to check out was no longer looking for more team members. One of those people initiated trading numbers with me but then never responded to practice for fun like he said. It was probably a way to imply we really don 't want you on our team. get out. I 've been getting this vibe a lot being in numerous online groups. I hope I 'm just wrong. I know that people are busy and don 't notice things including myself. I 've been trying to find an get on an 8 ball competitive team since July 2021 or earlier. Seems like a long time. People who experience a lack of class from the pool community and come for pool for Burgundy, it could sour their experience at the Burgundy. I 'm under the impression that the 9 ball community seems warmer than the 8 ball community though. So, that 's an important distinction to possible be aware of. I don 't think the Burgundy itself is a bad place, and people like this woman help it continue to shine."
