"Where to begin? This is a good thing. There are so many things that NOLA'S gets right. This is not a fancy place, which is our style. The tables are covered in butcher paper which is changed in between guests. The staff is awesome! Even other members of the wait staff was checking in on us. We started off with the beer cheese and pretzel. It was awesome! The beer cheese has more of a spicy bite than most and the pretzel was buttery soft. What a great combo! My wife and I had two different burgers. Both of which were very good and definitely out of the box on the flavors they blend together. Some people do weird things on menus for the sake of being weird. NOLA'S does it with great taste and unique flavors in mind. They knock it out of the park with their daring menu item! The side dish oddly enough was the winner for me. Call me strange but the fries I received with my burger were unreal! They were what NOLA'S refers to as swamped. Which means they smoother the fries with red beans and cheese. Stick with me here. The red beans are serious business! These aren't the red beans you are thinking of. They have so many different spices rolling around in the recipe, they are music for the taste buds. At the tail end of each bite of the beans is a subtle smoky flavor. Delicious. We ended our feast and show of abject gluttony by ordering the Taste of New Orleans dessert. This is homemade bread pudding, topped with caramelized brown sugar on top, dripping with bananas Foster sauce, topped with fresh banana slices. Yeah, you heard me. My one regret is we didn't get the scoop of ice cream like our awesome waitress suggested. That would have put us into orbit or a diabetic coma. I'll let you be the judge. I highly recommend this place if you are even near Cynthiana."
