"First time we were truly disappointed at a Garces spot. The service was plain slow. The front station was confused when we arrived it took three people talking to each other to eventually seat us. Although the waiter really tried to keep up, it took ordering them twice and over 20 minutes for drinks to appear after we ordered them. At his recommendation, we ordered the special rib dish. It was dry, over spiced, partially burnt and anything but special. The rest of the dishes were just ok not nearly what we expect from a Garces restaurant. Tinto and Village Whiskey are two of our favorite places. Distrito is close behind. The ambience was plain loud plus we were seated at a banquette where at 9:00 pm the band/singer took over the adjacent table to setup their gear/instruments about two feet away making us feel like we were in the way (good thing we didn 't order desert or coffee). This may be a jinxed location for Garces. We went to its predecessor Chifa one time and never went back although it wasn 't nearly as bad as last night 's experience."
