"What a disappointment at what had been one of our favorite restaurants in Indy. We used to eat there regularly before moving about an hour away. We were in town on 11/29/23 and decided to stop for supper about 6:30 pm. Our server took our order and repeated everything back to us gyosa and sushi pizza appetizers, general tso bento box and a crunchy bomb roll for entrees. There was a fair number of table customers, plus a constant flow of carry out pickups, with only one server working the tables. We had to wait an unusually long time for drinks and to have our order taken, because the single server was also constantly shuttling carry out food to the front desk. The server brought our gyosa, then a few minutes later brought crab Rangoon, which we said was not ours, and she took to another table. The soup and salad with the bento box was brought, which was fine. Then the bento box came, but no crunch bomb for my husband. Meanwhile, the carry out flow was constant. We waited another 20 minutes, with the server running constantly between tables and carry out and two people making sushi like crazy. Finally, my husband said let’s just go, who knows how many more carry out orders there are before we get our crunch bomb. Before we could ask for our check, the server brought it and moved on. The crunch bomb was not even on our tab, although the server had repeated it back to us when we ordered. While the food that we did get was excellent, we were very disappointed with the service. It was obvious that the carry out sushi was their main commitment, with little attention to table customers. We’ll miss our now occasional visits to Hana when we visit Indy, but excellent food is not worth being treated as second class customers."

"What a disappointment. There are really many cases in which I am thinking very hard about a reason why to give a tip at all, but this was definitely one of them. Not a particular great food quality, especially not when Hibachi is $20. The sushi was alright, but also hopelessly overpriced. 6 sashimi and a 6 piece tuna roll may not be worth $23 the execution here was just disappointing. When you have staff preparing food in the open, then you probably want to see someone who takes care and pride in that effort, here it was just, well, food. That hibachi would be closer to $15 based on the meat quality and the sushi combo probably closer to $18.If you order food that is vastly different (such as sushi and hibachi), it won't come out at the same time. The different parts of the kitchen do not talk to each other. The sushi came 15 minutes later than the Hibachi. The server did apologize and mentioned it was because of takeout food, but there wasn't really any takeout customer during the entire time we ordered and waited for our food. It was more accurate that she didn't notice the sushi waiting on the counter for more than 5 minutes. So I did not necessarily appreciate not being told the truth. Delays happen, but such comments are inexcusable from a customer point of view. The saving grace for a second star is that both servers were overwhelmed with about 60% of the restaurant being full. From a customer point of view, that shouldn't matter, however as you still pay the same price as if it was great service. The server noticed that we weren't happy, but, sometimes, an apology just isn't enough. Situational awareness and and approach how to mitigate issues would go a long way here. All combined, low food quality, no coordination of delivery to the table, tables not being served in order of arrival, and questionable excuses make it very unlikely for us to return. I'd rather drive a little longer, and spend a little more for a better food quality and better service. All in all, one of the most disappointing dining experience in a long time for me. It can only get better from here. There's a good chance that my tip would have communicated this overall disappointment; luckily my wife took over the tipping."
