"The food at Tops Pizza And Hoagies was actually great—hot and served in large portions, and the waiter was good. However, I was dining with my mother, who has dementia. While she was trying to pay the bill, I received an important phone call and stepped into the doorway to answer it. A waitress, who wasn’t our server, approached me and told me the air conditioner was on and I needed to go outside. I understand, but I couldn’t safely leave my mother alone inside. She became very pushy, and we ended up having an unpleasant exchange. At 65, it was the first time I’ve ever been asked to leave a restaurant. That waitress showed no understanding of the situation and repeatedly confronted me before we could finally leave. I had planned to recommend this place to my neighbors for a great meal, but that won’t be happening. As a small business, it would really benefit from having staff with a kinder attitude toward guests."
