"My family and I were hoping to find a friendly place to eat breakfast while we were visiting Nebraska City. We googled local places to eat and The Downtowner was the first restaurant on the list. So we chose to go there. I am a person of color and my husband is white. We were also with our two kids and my mother. Upon entering the restaurant, we were not acknowledged in a timely manner. The waitresses all just looked at us and went about their tasks. After what felt like 5 minutes, one of the staff came to seat us. She set us at a table and we were not provided with menus or anything else for that matter. Several of the wait staff made eye contact with members of my family and never came to serve us. This went on for over 10 minutes. We witnessed other patrons (Caucasian) coming in and was immediately greeted, seated, and provided with menus. At this time, my family and I didn’t feel comfortable or welcome and decided to leave. As we were walking out, the staff watched while pointing and whispering to one another. It was obvious that we were not welcome in this establishment. Beware if you are a person of color looking for a hot meal. You may not get service at this establishment. Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1"
