"Filipino Cuisine, and a Rewards program ! Isla in San Bruno, CA is most deserving of 5 Stars in all of the categories! Arrived hungry at lunch time, 12:30pm. Was immediately seated and welcomed into a vibrant wholesome family atmosphere. Ordered the following: • Tocilog • Pancit Palabok • Ultimate Ginataang Gipon • Halo Halo (topped with Ube Ice Cream and Leche Flan) Delicious flavor combinations with the food arriving less than 6 minutes after being seated, Wow … a round of applause One, two, three, four, FIVE Stars ! I approve of this rating, Jay M."

"Really wanted to love this place. Am Indonesian myself and have lots of Pilipino friends so I was curious about this fusion of food. Also, it is something different in Carmel (we also love our French and Italian foods but Carmel already has loads of those). The vibe was great, but unfortunately the food was super underwhelming. I ordered the Balinese fried chicken, specifically because it came with Nasi Goreng. But mine came with garlic fried rice. And yes, maybe some people won't notice the difference, but the difference is huge. Unfortunately the fried rice wasn't even done properly. It came with huge clumps of rice. It states on the menu it comes with prawn crackers, and it is literally 2 tiny pieces. My husbands meal was not much better. If you go here, I probably would order the apps only and maybe a Nasi Goreng on the side (to ensure you actually get Nasi Goreng). But personally, unless you go for the lively atmosphere (lot of people seem to be just hanging at the bar so that's an option) I would pick one of the many many other great restaurants in Carmel."

"We made a reservation on a Sunday at 12.30pm, confirmed our reservation to only get there and see that the restaurant is closed. Even said on another APP that they are/should be open at that time. We even called the restaurant because we saw someone walking inside but they didn’t pick up. This restaurant shouldn’t be taking “reservations” on a day/time that they are closed. Fine that it could be due to low staff but at least give a heads up that you’ll be closed or won’t be able to accommodate! It’s annoying when you are expecting to be seated at a restaurant specially after a long drive. So annoyed. Don’t trust making reservations here."
