"I recently had the opportunity to dine at Zanzibar, a charming soul food establishment that had come highly recommended. The food, as promised, was spectacular, showcasing the warmth and depth of Southern cuisine. Our meal included a delightful array of offerings such as soul rolls, crispy catfish fingers and a variety of chicken dishes that were expertly prepared, with flavors that transported us straight to the heart of the Deep South. Each dish was a testament to the restaurant's commitment to maintaining the integrity and authenticity of classic soul food.Furthermore, Zanzibar's staff went above and beyond, delivering service that was both friendly and professional. Their inviting demeanor and attention to detail played a crucial role in shaping our dining experience. However, our visit took a disappointing turn during the payment process. The restaurant's current setup, which involves manually entering the payment amount into the Square app on a phone, is prone to errors and miscommunication.Regrettably, we found ourselves on the receiving end of such an oversight. It was only after we left the restaurant that we realized we had inadvertently tipped twice. The initial payment amount that was inputted included a 15% gratuity and the tax – components that we were not supposed to tip on. This error ultimately led to us paying an additional 15% for our meal. This kind of mistake, if not rectified, can be quite damaging to a restaurant's reputation and customer retention. It's particularly unfortunate in Zanzibar's case, considering how remarkable their food is. Customers would be more likely to return if they knew they could trust the restaurant with all aspects of their dining experience, from the delicious food to the handling of their payment. In summary, Zanzibar delivers on the culinary front with authentic, mouth-watering soul food and wonderful service, but they fall short when it comes to their payment handling. It's my sincere hope that they address this issue promptly to ensure that more diners can enjoy their outstanding cuisine without the aftertaste of a billing error."
