"This review is meant directly for the Hostess. The Stone Barn/Fox Fire has been one of me and my husband's favorite local restaurants for years. We've brought many friends here and have always highly recommended it. Our experience on April 7 however was very disappointing. The head hostess was extremely rude and condescending. We brought my daughter there for her birthday, were enjoying brunch along with the live acoustic music playing through a wireless speaker near our table (the musician was across the other side of the room). We were about mid-meal when the hostess sat two people at a table near us, turned around and roughly handled the speaker (belonging to the musician, not the restaurant), turning it off. We were all disappointed since now we were just hearing the music faintly far away in the background. I politely made an attempt to request that the music be turned back up (at least partially). The hostess' response toward me was unbelievably disrespectful. She spoke down to me as if I were an idiot, then walked away before I could finish what I wanted to say. The two folks seated long after we had been there enjoying ourselves took precedence over us. She made us feel as though our request was unreasonable and offensive; there was absolutely zero willingness of compromise. Just like that the vibe became negative and uncomfortable, we all just wanted to leave. We spoke to the manager about her behavior, he was aloof and unsympathetic (it was obvious he didn't really care). He did apologize and said he'd talk to her, but was just going through the motions and not really sincere. It almost seemed like a joke. We paid our check in full, tipped our server well (she was excellent), and tipped the musician who wonderfully added positive ambiance to the room, despite the nasty hostess who had no respect him or his equipment. Not sure if/when we'll be back, but it definitely won't be if that woman is working there."
