"When I entered, the man working there (I assume he was the owner) asked how he could help me. I identified myself, and he confirmed he was working on my order. I politely reminded him that he mentioned it would take 30 minutes, and assured him I didn’t mind waiting. There was another couple in the restaurant waiting for their food as well. Although it seemed he was moving a bit slowly, I didn’t mind.
After finishing their order, the owner went to their table and began to berate me in front of them, stating that I had called in and only showed up 12 minutes later than the quoted time. I spoke up to explain that we were traveling and had just arrived, but he angrily accused me of rushing him. I clarified that I wasn’t rushing and preferred to stand while waiting, knowing I’d have to sit for a while on our trip. He continued to yell at me, insisting I should have sat down since I was supposedly rushing him. Despite my assurances, he kept mumbling angrily to himself.
Feeling overwhelmed, I took a deep breath and decided to leave. I informed my husband about what had happened, and he immediately decided we would not stay. A few minutes later, the man called and continued to yell at my husband, who stood up for me and told him that no one should speak to his wife that way, and expressed our intention to leave with our business.
I honestly can’t believe he treated a customer this way, particularly to a young mother clearly dealing with more than his perceived rush. If he can’t handle the pressure of serving two customers at once, perhaps he should reconsider being in this line of work."
