"One of the many cool things about road trips is stumbling across country stores that have been around for ages and sell everything you can imagine. Over generations, they've helped sustain and connect communities. There are fewer and fewer of them nowadays vs. chains. This one in Missouri started in 1889 and the current location was built in 1926. It sells deli sandwiches made to order, all sorts of other food and drink, souvenirs, live bait, feed, guns and ammo, endless camping and hiking gear, outdoors and farm clothing and shoes, plumbing and auto supplies and more. Also, what increasingly seems like a throwback, print newspapers. Plus, they keep their restrooms spotless. With friendly, helpful folks running the store, long may they thrive. They've been at it for four generations!"
