What distinguishes this restaurant from others is its incredible and creative menu alongside an exceptionally curated wine list. I was thoroughly impressed by the selection, both by the bottle and by the glass. The person responsible for this list clearly possesses a deep knowledge of wines, featuring selections from both old-world and new-world regions, including options I personally keep in my cellar.
Unlike some restaurants that skimp on quality to push expensive choices, Mariposa offers great value for money, with the option for 3-ounce and 6-ounce pours facilitated by their Coravin system. We started our meal with champagne and finished with a 2013 Spottswoode Napa Cabernet—one of Napa's finest vintages, boasting a 99-point rating.
Our experience was elevated by our server, Julianna (please correct me if I’m wrong), who skillfully paired our favorite courses with the perfect wines. Our standout dishes, recommended by her, were the foie gras with waffle and the cauliflower. The foie gras was absolutely divine, served with the most unique waffle I’ve ever encountered—a must-try even for those who aren’t typically fans. Be sure to enjoy it with a glass of Sauternes, as we did. The cauliflower also exceeded our expectations; it’s not something one would generally order as a standalone dish, but I’m so glad we did.
We concluded our meal with the roasted duck, paired beautifully with my favorite wine of the evening, the Spottswoode Cabernet. I highly recommend Mariposa; it’s a must-visit for anyone who appreciates exceptional food and service when in Deer Valley. Kudos to the restaurant and its staff for delivering a first-rate experience with food and service of the highest quality."
