"Used to be top tier, something slipped in the past few yearsWe stopped here last week after skiing Eldo expecting great beer and good pizza at a decent rate. The ciders we ordered were delicious, and a reasonable deal for happy hour.I grossly overspent on my pizza, as I misunderstood the expense of individual toppings 2$ per). When it came, it was floppy, undercooked, and greasy, and the sausage was mush. Not sure what kind of cheese was used but I wasn’t pleased with the taste or texture. With some nicer ingredients and a bit more finesse with the oven temperature, I think backcountry could return to their past pie quality, but I was underwhelmed for what ended up being about a 30$ pizza. My stomach was wrenching on the way home and ultimately I never ate the leftovers.Friend ordered tender chickens or whatever they’re called on the menu, and they seemed alright. Tater tots were probably frozen but can’t complain.I like the classic pub styled interior but it’s definitely dated and a bit grimey for my taste. Some new booths and a good cleaning would go a long way.Wouldn’t say backcountry is worth skipping for everyone, but I’ll be going to other restaurants when I’m in Boulder."
