"The fries arrived first, served in a large paper bag, with cheese powder on the side for a small extra charge of $1. There was a generous portion of fries—definitely a great deal! The paper bag made it easy to shake them up. They were cooked perfectly and I appreciated the thin cut. Next, the cheese balls came out. They had a crispy exterior, similar to Korean corn dogs but with less batter, while the inside was gooey and reminiscent of mochi—absolutely delicious!
Finally, the chicken was served, and everything came out remarkably quickly, within about 10 minutes. The chicken was beautifully golden brown and cooked to perfection. I loved how the skin was crispy without being overly heavy, and the meat was juicy and tender. We usually prefer boneless, but since that wasn’t an option in this flavor, we opted for drumsticks instead. The chicken was fantastic when dipped in the pickled jalapeño sauce; I wished there was more of it!
Overall, the cooking on the chicken was impressive, but it did lean towards a milder flavor, so pairing it with the sauce or adding some zesty sides like kimchi is definitely recommended. The restaurant is small but has several booths for seating. They also offer some delicious drink options like flavored Korean milks, and I even noticed a poster for kimchi beer. Overall, Ttobongee is a solid choice for fast-casual Korean food. I look forward to trying more flavors to compare with other Korean fried chicken spots, and I’m glad to see this option available in Folsom!"
