"This was an unexpected surprise on our trip to Washington DC. Saw the Hard Times Cafe on Google Maps and it was less than a mile from our hotel. We took a trip for dinner and it was excellent! The chili was fantastic, we had it on top of nachos. My daughter had a pulled pork sandwich and I had pulled pork tacos that came with a delicious jalapeno ranch sauce. (Both were listed on the special menu so they not be regular items) Our food was hot and fresh and very affordable. Our server was friendly and attentive. A manager came over and checked on us, not in I have to do this way but in a friendly and genuine manner. This would easily become a regular place to visit for us if it wasn 't 3+ hours from home."
