"This is hands down the best Tex-Mex restaurant in the Arkansas River Valley! I picked up takeout for lunch, and it was amazing. The food was exceptional, deserving a full 5 out of 5. The service was equally impressive, also earning a perfect score of 5. Additionally, the overall atmosphere of the restaurant is fantastic, receiving another 5. "We eat here a lot (roughly weekly and it's usually the same story. When you arrive, you're seated quickly and they are very fast at getting your order and providing chips and salsa. They have great salsa, and the chips are okay: sometimes they are crisp but airy and amazing, other times you can tell they're old. The bacon fajitas (fajita mi casitas are AH-mazing! But you probably will not get a drink refills and you certainly will not get chip refills. They are the only Mexican restaurant I've been to where they charge for a refill of tortillas with fajitas, and the single 3-shell refill is almost the same price as the fajitas (charged me $4.50 for 3 shells! . The view of the river is great. Parking lot is rough gravel rock so be warned if you're in a wheelchair or heels. Interior is cozy and they have a little patio outside by the river. Good food but service can be iffy (the waitress is the same almost every time--shes very, very nice but not very attentive ."

"Management needs to do a better job of training their employees on where to seat families with children. The hostess seated us at the top of the stairs at the front where every waiter carried big trays of drinks or food right above our child in a high chair as they went up the stairs. My wife and I could not enjoy our meal due to the location of our table and we ended up leaving early."

"This was my third visit to El Pueblito, and I have yet to find a single dish on the menu that isn’t outstanding. I finally decided to try the Lengua Asada tonight, and it did not disappoint—tender and full of flavor, especially with the chimichurri adding an extra kick. However, my daughter wouldn’t try the Lengua because she knew what it was. The guacamole was superb, and we wrapped up our meal with delicious sopapillas."

I especially enjoyed their homemade tomatillo salsa verde drizzled on my fajitas. My son had the chicken burrito with cheese sauce added to it. He said that it was great. The chips and salsa were good as well. My son ordered a large order of the cheese dip and it had a really good flavor. Our server took great care of us. "Mazatlan is the single greatest authentic Mexican restaurant experience in Eastern North Carolina. The food is phenomenal. Everything is cooked, seasoned, and prepared to perfection. It is simply delicious. I cannot get enough of it. Another major benefit to the cuisine is the abundance and quality of the chips and salsa. I have never had better salsa at any other restaurant. The food at this establishment puts all other Mexican food in Greenville to miserable soul-crushing shame. The staff at Mazatlan are charming, courteous, and lovely. The owner Rico, a horse-riding legend in Eastern North Carolina, frequently comes to check on all his guests. His infectious charisma and suave add an authentic flavor to the entire experience that cannot be beat. I could really write an entire book about how much I love Rico and his magnificent restaurant. "Food was good but I've had better at compadres in Painesville. The Vegis in the dishes were overcooked mushy. like they were pre-cooked and sat. The fajita quesadilla is my go-to. I like the fresh sautéed green and red pepper with onions shredded cheese and chicken..there is was thin and looked like my kid made it the taste was okay not bad but not worth a second visit. Compadres were plump and had a crisp bite and the texture was packed full.. Don Tequila had Amazing salsa I'll give them that. The service was a little slow..but they appeared to be understaffed. I'm not gonna give a bad rating because the food was good I've had better and would've chosen a 15-minute drive for taste over just settling because it's close by. So form your own opinion This is just that...my opinion Parking: Great parking nice flat clean parking lot butt up against a park area the beautiful deer were grazing when we went. It gave us an estimated wait time of an hour, but having worked in the food industry, I suspected it would actually be ready within the initial 30-minute prep window they mentioned. The hostesses were very friendly, and my food was well-packaged. They nearly got our entire order right, though they did forget the tortillas for my husband's fajitas. Fortunately, we have some at home, so it wasn't a big deal. They also gave us an abundance of chips for our dip, which was fantastic.
