"Blessed that the storm called Hurricane Barry in New Orleans ended up a non-event, we headed out for a Saturday night dinner. Very few places were open, but an old favorite, Royal China, was indeed open. When we walked in, the room was nearly full, and there were people waiting on takeout. Ms Shirley took us to a table, and we perused the menu. A young gent took our drink orders, and It was a good night to eliminate stress with a large hot sake. We ordered a series of appetizers, but with a bread shortage, shrimp toast was out, but shrimp rolls, paper shrimp, and coconut shrimp were in. All were excellent. We ordered the house combo fried rice, with plenty of shrimp, pork and chicken. We also ordered one entree for each of us, knowing there was going to be a fine leftovers dinner by Tuesday. I ordered Seafood in a Nest,Chinese vegetables stir-fried with jumbo shrimps, scallops and pecans in a mild sauce. Tasty with lovely presentation. My son ordered Hawaii Delight, Fresh jumbo shrimp, beef, chicken sauteed with fresh pineapple and vegetables. His nest was half a pineapple. Wife got her favorite, boneless fried chicken. We had enough space for a couple of almond cookies and fortune cookies. What made this special is how Ms Shirley and the young man handled the front desk and the entire room with grace and efficiency. I am unsure how many folks were manning the kitchen, but the taste, serving, and presentation was special especially given the worker shortage."

"This is a fantastic Japanese restaurant situated in the heart of Hammond, Louisiana. I was fortunate enough not to pay for my dinner because my boyfriend was helping the owner with some work, who kindly treated us to a complimentary meal—a delightful surprise! Even without the free dinner, I believe we wouldn't have spent much, considering the reasonable menu prices. The food is absolutely delicious, and the portions are quite generous. The staff members are all very friendly and accommodating. On a Saturday afternoon, there was a small line when they opened at 5 PM, and the restaurant stayed busy until just before closing. If you're in the Hammond area, this is definitely a place you should check out!"

Maybe I should have asked for it to be "extra spicy." I found the dish to be quite oily, to the point that I had to discard a significant portion. The vegetable lo mein didn’t differ much from the side I ordered—just wider noodles and tofu. The portion was small for the price, and I won’t be ordering this again. 2. **Thai Panang Curry with Veggies and Tofu (plus extra potato)** - I also asked for this to be spicy, but the dish was sweet instead, lacking the heat I expected. The flavor was standard for Panang curry, and while it was tasty, it wasn’t what I wanted. I also noticed I was charged extra for the potato sausage, which was not part of my original order. 3. **Sweet Lo Mein** - This dish was oily and small, and the taste was off—likely due to the excess oil used, which didn't seem fresh. I wouldn’t order this again either. 4. **Pad Thai with Beef and Shrimp** - My partner ordered this separately a few hours later and was disappointed with the taste. It was just as oily as my dishes, and despite being ordered much later, it was still heavy and overpriced for what it offered. **Pros:** - The staff was friendly. **Cons:** - The portion sizes were disappointing for the price: I paid around $43.00 for two dishes (including the extra potato in the curry), one plate of lo mein, and a small side of jasmine rice, plus tip. - All the noodle dishes were overly oily and heavy, making them difficult to enjoy. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place based on my experience."

"The restaurant has undergone a name change, but the food is still excellent. Despite the wrong phone number listed, we decided to visit to see if it was still in operation. The sign indicates it is a Thai restaurant located at 4 Roosevelt, which is also the address. The ambiance is refreshing with a clean and crisp look, unlike the typical dark and heavily decorated Thai restaurants. They now have a small bar for cocktails, where I enjoyed a good martini and my partner enjoyed a tasty pinot noir. The food was excellent, especially for us as we are usually vegan and enjoy cheating once a week with Thai cuisine that caters to vegans. The summer rolls, spring rolls, and veg gyoza were all excellent, each coming with a delicious sauce. My partner, a big fan of pad thai, loved her selection. I opted for the prig khing, which was a great choice for my love of spicy dishes. Although they didn't have the pepper tablet I requested, I didn't miss it. We were pleased to see that our dishes came with brown rice, as we both prefer to avoid white rice. While we are not dessert enthusiasts, we will definitely be returning to this fantastic little restaurant."

"The food was outstanding. However, the restaurant itself is quite small and feels cramped, lacking a notable ambiance. On the plus side, the service was excellent and prompt. A word of caution: we made a reservation through OpenTable and received confirmation, but when we arrived, they couldn't find our booking. If you use OpenTable, be sure to call the restaurant to double-check your reservation. To make up for their oversight, they kindly offered us complimentary drinks and a discount on our bill, so everything turned out well in the end, and they were very apologetic."
