"Count your change, shaddy Bartender. Last night (Sat. I went to The Bowery Electric for an event. The event space downstairs wasn’t ready yet. The man who greeted me at the door was polite friendly. He stamped my wrist said grab a drink at the bar, it’s Happy Hour. At the bar I ordered “Whiskey-ginger”. When the bartender brought me my drink I asked how much, he said “$11, $12 with tax”. Puzzled, I asked “Is that Happy Hour price?”. The bartender looked at me and said “Yes.” And stood waited as I went into my purse to get out more money. I paid tipped and took my drink. Something just didn’t seem right to me. I went to the front door, looked outside and the sandwich board advertising Happy Hour for The Bowery Electric, clearly says well drinks $8. I went back to the bartender and told him that the sign out front said Happy Hour mix drinks are $8 and you charged me $12. He looks at me and says, “I gave you Jameson”. And I said, “I did not ask for Jameson. It’s happy hour and I ordered just whiskey-ginger”. “Okay”. The bartender turns around and hands me $3. I say, “Happy Hour is $8”. He says, “$8 plus tax, $9. You have a good night”. Lets unpack all of this. It is Happy Hour time at the bar, you Know that is what people are ordering, that is why bars have Happy Hour prices. When I asked regarding the $12, is that Happy Hour, he said Yes and did not say anything regarding Jameson. When I returned, quoting the price listed on the sign outside, only then did he say, “I gave you Jameson”. He gave me, he did not say this is what I ordered, he gave me something I did not ask for. Next, tax on $11 $8, both, is $1. Last, no apology just a snarky “You have a good night.” The Bowery Electric. Cool looking bar, nice space downstairs for events. Front door guy, friendly inviting. The Bartender, CAN NOT BE TRUSTED !!!"

"So, this place (right now is a complete and utter train wreck. It seems that it is going through some re-branding or something and during that time, they are actually staying open. This was the bar 'Swanky Bubbles ' which was featured in an episode of Bar Rescue, featuring that angry guy who looks like a Dark Crystal muppet creature and goes around screaming and threatening people. It didn 't take long for that iteration to close ... it re-opened about a year ago as a British Pub called The Victoria Freehouse. First of all, this might be one of the worst physical locations in history for a bar. At night, it looks like The Five Points from Gangs of New York. This is not an area you want to be walking around in past dark. During the day, the street next to it is filled with tourists and should be called 'Cheesesteak Rowe ' because there are so many sandwich shoppes. I actually passed by the bar twice while looking for it, as did a stranger who also was looking for it. (she walked in and walked right back out, FYI Finally, we found the door and we couldn 't figure out if the bar was open or not because the windows looked dark and it looked like the outside hadn 't been cleaned or washed in years. Upon walking in, I was told that they were out of nearly all their British beers, the UK-style cask system was not working (despite being featured in recent Instagram posts and a few of their menu items were unavailable, which also were featured in social media posts. Off to a bad start. To make matters worse, the prices of beer was shocking here. $10 per pint ... in fairness, it 's a proper 20 ounce British pint ... but still. That 's a lot for this grungy area! The bar itself feels about 20% of what a British Pub should feel like. I spent a lot of time in London and despite a tin ceiling and some British beer signs (ironic, given that they were out of most it just doesn 't feel like a proper pub. It feels 80% like a bar from the late 2000 's with rose coloured walls and dark wood bar and stools that were being used during the George W. Bush administration. It smells like stale beer and the area behind the bar was a filthy mess of pens, pads of papers, wires and just looked unkempt. (Now I sound like John Taffer! The staff was nice enough, although it seemed they were pushing the drinks pretty hard. Overall there was a bit of a sense of embarrassment from the staff ... mixed with a sense of desperation. This was a bar without an identity and is clearly going through changes. During such a re-brand, it would be smart to close completely ... or at least take Instagram down showing a British Pub. Based on other recent reviews, others seem to agree. I hate to give a bad review to a struggling business, but I feel like I was ripped off here ... $20+ for two beers and not even the ones I wanted. The beer tasted a bit stale and was served warm ... the closest thing to an actual British pub that I felt vibes-wise ... but likely unintentional. Stay away from here until they figure out the rebranding ... I 'd be happy to update my review once they re-open but as of now, I feel like they are selling a bill of goods they can 't deliver on. Not sure that I 'd ever eat anything that came out of a place in this sort of disrepair. The fellow next to me seemed to be enjoying his Irish breakfast ... but just looking at it triggered my gag reflex. Sorry, but hard no on this place until it fixes itself."

"I was sitting at work one day and had a craving for some home made scones, I looked up a few recipes and was planning on making some, then I thought no, I'm too tired. I then open up yelped app started to look for some shops near by that makes homemade or starch made, then steeped in comfort popped up and when I looked at the reviews I was a bit skeptical, so, I called them to see if they will hold some scones for me until I get off, they were so kind to do so. As I got to the shop it looked a little bit outdated like everyone has shared on their reviews. When I picked up my orders the owners were very friendly and greeted with a smile. I ordered three blueberry and lemon scones, one quiche and one cinnamon roll, but then as I was talking to them about the shop, I end up placing another order for egg sandwich as I was waiting we had a conversation and not knowing that they had had it open for more then 16 years, I was shocked! I was like..wow, how did I not know about this shop, mind you, I'm a Washington gal, born and raised! I also, love traveling around to go to new pop up shops even if I have to drive for hours. Ok, time to talk about the food, when I got in the car I didn't drive off, I ate the first scones in the drive way, that first bite was soooo amazing!!! the scone was perfectly balanced with the sweetness of the fresh blueberries and lemon icing, had just the right amount or salt and the soft crumbs. I was so, happy!! I end up eating two on my way home, I was calling my niece and son tell them all about the shop, while eating it. When I got home I couldn't wait to try the rest of the orders, me and my son also, amazed how soft and fluffy the cinnamon roll was, he said mom this is the best cinnamon roll i ever ate! The blanched of the sweet and salty was perfect! Now on to the quiche, the portion size was big, I was able to cut it into two pieces, you do get it cold, I warmed it up in my air fryer, it was firm held together, creamy and had a blanched of flavor. Last for the egg salad sandwich, it was simple but tasty! The next following day, I called to place 12 scones order for Mother's Day, I ordered the blueberry and lemon and the fair scones, when I brought it over for my family to try they said it was the best they ever had. Friends if you are in the area, I highly recommend it, you won't be disappointed!"
