"I’ve never experienced anything quite like Stand-Up Burgers. It’s a fast-food-style burger joint, but with a twist: everything on the menu is plant-based. We learned about Veggie Grill from a Lonely Planet guidebook, and it appears that Stand-Up Burgers is their latest concept. We tried the house double cheeseburger, a blue cheese burger, mac and cheese, tater tots, a beer, and a vanilla shake. It was certainly the closest I’ve come to a ‘real’ cheeseburger. Now that I’m back home in the UK, I find myself wishing I could enjoy it all over again. Although it was a bit pricey compared to typical burger chains—our meal plus service came to just over £50—it’s a unique experience that makes it worth the cost. The staff were incredibly friendly, and we had a nice chat about our trip. If you’re a vegan looking for a tasty burger while in Chicago, this is definitely a must-visit."
