"I recently had what might be the worst dining experience of my life at Lost Dog Cafe in McLean. Even a school cafeteria could serve better food. If it were possible to give zero stars, I would, but the friendly and attentive service earned the restaurant a single star. That kind lady might very well be the sole reason this place remains in business. **Atmosphere:** This cafe is conveniently located next to a Safeway in a mall, with plenty of parking available. However, the overall vibe felt run-down and gloomy. **Food:** We were looking for a dog-friendly cafe and had heard mixed reviews about Lost Dog, so I had high hopes—especially since it’s a chain. We ordered the Crab Dog Dip, The Fat Molly, and the Philly Philly, alongside some Dog Collars (their onion rings). Our total was around $48.18, and that turned out to be a pricey lesson in why certain places should be avoided. The crab dip was excessively oily with barely any crab present; it was just a mushy, greasy cheese blend. The garlic bread was dry and tough. The Dog Collars were poorly breaded, some were burnt, and the accompanying sauce was mediocre and greasy. Both sandwiches were a disaster! The meat was so dry that it could’ve been mistaken for jerky from medieval times, and the funky, gamey smell only added to the experience. The pitas and baguettes were stale and tough, the veggies looked discolored and old, and everything was under-seasoned—I felt like I was eating hospital food meant for low-sodium diets. Even more puzzling, the sandwiches were so greasy that oil dripped onto the tables and our laps. We found everything to be inedible. My boyfriend and I managed a single bite from each dish before we left, as our appetite had completely vanished. **Service:** The only redeeming aspect of our visit was the service. We dined on a Sunday around 2:30 PM, and our server was incredibly warm and caring, which included being very welcoming to our dog. Thank you for that! They do provide milk bones and water bowls for furry friends, so if you’re inclined to spend almost $50 just to sit on the patio with your dog, this might be the place for you. Overall, it was a terrible experience. I should have just opted for Subway and enjoyed a meal in the parking lot instead; their sandwiches actually taste like food."

"Jr's is great! I am a regular customer for over 15 years now and everything is just so delicious. It gets busy but they somehow manage to get the food out pretty fast even though everything is always cooked to order. The atmosphere is awesome with music videos playing while you eat and never any commercials!Service is wonderful as all the employees are very courteous and helpful. My favorite dish surprisingly is the chicken empanadas. They are the best I've ever had. Try them with the chipotle mayo!Jr's even has 3 different seafood dishes which is amazing for a burger place! This brightly lit sweet spot is perfect for a quick lunch, or a casual, inexpensive dinner and perhaps most importantly, late night/after hours munching after the bars close! They are the latest open joint in the area closing at 3am on weekends. As for the sandwiches, don't be put off by the idea of 2 slider sandwiches..they pile them high and I was so full afterward! Finally, the bathrooms are consistently clean as well as the whole place... I even got to take a peek into the kitchen and it was spotless. No wonder they managed to survive covid and running almost 20 years now with 2 other locations! This place is run by real champions. Perfect 10. Vegetarian options: They have both a veggie burger option and grilled portobello option!! Dietary restrictions: You can get anything on top of a salad and every thing is made customizable! Kid-friendliness: The sandwiches come as sliders in a pack of 2 per order so they are great for kids and yet still very filling! Wheelchair accessibility: Plenty of room"

El Cazador

"Dining in Carolina Beach during the high season is always a challenge long waits, noisy crowds and the never ending struggle to find parking. El Cazador is a popular Mexicann/tex mex eatery that is worth the trip. Yes, you may have to wait but pop inside, order a cocktail and sit outside during your wait. The do a rather strong to go business so be mindful of the traffic flow. We had a large group 8 people and the way was under 30 min on a busy Saturday night. Once seated, our server was attentive with water and cocktails. we recommend the home made sangria (which was like a fruit salad with wine a large goblet filled 1/2 with diced fruit and an ample pour of wine) We also recommend the Frozen Mango Margarita. The interior has some unique lighted metal artwork with a large screen tv mounted center of the room. It was not clear what design message they were sending but we were here for food not to review the decor The menu is large and what you 'd expect seemingly endless choices of Burrito, Taco and encihiladas. Salsa is served in a tiny carafe that can be poured into individual dishes (cute idea) There are a number of vegetarian options as well. A number of our party ordered the Combo platter and were satisfied w the portion size. One member ordered the Fajita Quesadilla and the portion was giant. Another member ordered the steak fajitas and there was enough steak for 2 meals. Side orders the sour cream for $1.50 is actually pretty large portion so consider sharing if you like sour cream. We did not have dessert but we were also not offered any dessert so I am not sure they serve dessert. The large tv was set to ultimate fighting, while we found this amusing while we waited for our food (it was a long wait) it may not be the best choice of programming for people who are eating. The method for clearing tables was also interesting the server wiped down the table pushing the crumbs to the tile floor which was already a little slick. There was a birthday at a neighboring table and the staff made a big event out of singing to the birthday girl and donning her with a mexican hat. A for effort. Large dinner turnover, we arrived at 630 and left at 9 and people were still waiting to be seated."
