"Worth the detour. After seeing a few dishes posted on Instagram (found by searching #RVA), we detoured to The Savory Grain on a trip from OH to GA. We arrived at the tail end of the Sunday brunch hour, pleased that we hadn't missed the live music (guitar and upright bass jazz). We took seats at the bar, and were quickly given waters and menus. Our order consisted of an artisan salad with applewood smoked bacon, and carrot cake pancakes. Not so great: the salad arrived with ham, not the bacon requested. Great: the pancakes were surprisingly, and refreshingly, not-too-sweet.
