"I switched my phone to speaker mode as I drove to Lupi's, still hoping she would eventually pick up and that my order would be ready when I got there. After a 20-minute drive on a Friday, I arrived at Lupi’s but was still on hold. I walked inside and finally matched a face to the voice I had been hearing. We made eye contact, and only then did she stop talking and approach the register, greeting me with “Hi! Are you picking up? What’s the name?”
Honestly, I was quite annoyed at this point. I just stared at her with my phone to my ear and said, “I’m still trying to place my order…” She looked confused, so I pointed to the phone receiver next to the register and said, “I’m still on hold…”
She replied, “Oh? Well, what did you… umm… what?” Frustrated, I hung up the phone and said nothing. I decided to turn around and leave instead. As I stepped outside, I heard her raise her voice. When I got into my car, I could see her through the restaurant window, gesturing dramatically and complaining to her coworkers about the situation, clearly only considering her perspective on the mishap."
