"Where should one go to eat after running 13.1 miles? In the case of me and my friend, we decided on Polker's since it was within walking distance from her place. It's on a cool stretch of Polk St with all kinds of cute shops/bars/restaurants. It was around 12:30, so the weekend brunch/lunch crowd was in full swing, and we had to put down our name for a table. Since we figured it would take a while we took off to visit The Candy Store down the street. When we came back about 20 minutes later, turns out they'd called our name but we weren't there so we got passed over, d'oh! So we had to wait about another 10 minutes or so--not the place's fault, obviously. The place is on the smallish side, hence the wait, but it's pleasant and bright inside, and the staff was friendly. I immediately decided I needed a burger, and got the mushroom swiss with avocado and a side of fries. My friend opted for the more healthy omelette. The burger tasted REALLY good, maybe having run a half marathon might've biased me, but it was delish. The fries could've been a little crispier, but hell, still good. My friend enjoyed her omelette and it was just a lovely leisurely time--the perfect way to spend a sunny Sunurday."
