"We have been going here since the early Roar?n 2000s, and every time since, to every Stressgiving, Christmas, pre-New Year and/or out w/ the girlfriends; this is the go-2 restaurant of the O.C., the restaurant that you definitely will not see Tamara Vicky chowing down on or off the cameras, but instead see a bunch of good local folks, the sincere meaning of the La Familia Mexican Restaurant that makes you feel right at home, and right with your wallet, no matter where you are visiting from. Where mi Casa?s can easily accommodate a few patrons in the restaurant or bar to a large party with over 20 and on one long table , to plenty of booth table options for up to 4 people during date night. Kid friendly, even in the bar table seating area, and bar stools for over a dozen drinkers, welcoming and well opened entry, clean bathrooms, plenty of parking well lite , but it does get busy especially during the holidays, where I am assuming they take reservations, but we have always walked-in and got seated immediately after arriving. Then there is the Happy Hour? or just strolling back to the bar w/ no H.H. , where one of the most hardworking waitresses Shasta I have ever witness serving multiple tables at a time, will welcome you, inform us on the deals and give great recommendations on how we can improve our experience and not costing us more, by starting us out right with a few Margarita?s $5 each , Cadillac $6 each and see photos for add?l costs/savings for food and alcohol beverages. The portion servings especially the ?? ? chicken cheese tacos are plenty and my husband of near 300 lbs gets overfilled with all-u-can-serve chips and salsa w/ one not 2 , but 1 ? ? ? served w/the delicious house Refried Beans and Rice, costing under $20 per person in general. On this particular date 1/31/21 , in addition we had order 4 chicken ? cheese ? tacos ?, beans, rice, chips and salsa. To see what I am talking about see photo the tray of tacos is that of 4 tacos. Highly, Highly Recommended for folks in and outside of Orange County that enjoy Great Tasting Mexican Food, AND for a Great Price!!"

"This was the first time we 've been to Alamo Cafe since August 2021 when we had a 'below par ' experience. The manager invited us back and we were so glad he did. The Fajitas were as good if not better then most restaurants in San Antonio, the tea tasted fresh brewed, and the tortillas and salsa were just as good (if not better) then we remembered. What added to our experience was our server Joey who was attentive and responded to our requests in seconds (not minutes) when he wasn 't a few steps ahead of our requests. The manager stopped by the table to check in just as Joey was receiving a much deserved tip. When we tried to 'recruit ' Joey to come work for our company, the manager said 'He can 't, he 's part of our physical inventory ', grabbed him around the shoulders and quickly ushered him off....LOL! THANK YOU ALAMO CAFE ..... and Joey@ and as you can tell from the foto... we thoroughly enjoyed our food!"

"Regrettably this is the lowest rating I have given out for any dine in experience.To start off this restaurant is 95% self service with the only exception being that they will bring the food to you. Which would be acceptable except that they ask for a tip prior to knowing that it is mostly self service. You will have to take the chips and salsa to your own table and will have to put away your plates when you are done eating.I was surprised with the quality of the tortilla chips that are on the house and that was the climax of my experience. It set my expectations much higher than what I was about to experience.The food , a Steak Torta -The food was ready in less than five minutes which was surprisingly quick. Upon arrival I quickly noticed that the bread to meat ratio was disappointing. After a few bites my taste buds were unamused. The meat was soft but lacked seasoning and salt. None of the other ingredients tasted in sync and I believe the fault lies with the bread. I wish I took a picture but the amount of bread to meat ratio was ridiculous, especially with a 13$ pretax) amount. This is not the correct bread type for a torta…. I believe changing the bread and actually toasting both sides of each piece would remedy most of the issues with this experience.The customer service was acceptable and our hostess was friendly."

"First time visit and pleasantly surprised. The salsa salsa taquera style, had a good consistency and was not runny, has a bite to it but not over the top, but if you are sensitive to spice you may find it a bit much. Refried Beans creamy and well seasoned, no need to salt these down, some of the best that I have had. The rice moist but not sticky, tasted great. Enchiladas ground beef was well seasoned, gravy was good, corn tortillas were not mushy as the ground beef was not greasy. Nice ratio of beef, gravy and cheese, although I would go light on the cheese next time as a personal preference. Staff was friendly and service was superb. Homey feel, with good food value. Definitely want to go back and try some of the other dishes. Can see why they have been in business since 1970."

"This was our first time dining here, but it definitely won’t be our last. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was bright, clean, and fun. We started with guacamole and chips along with Patron margaritas, and they did not disappoint. I ordered the steak burrito, which was enormous and incredibly satisfying, while my husband had the steak quesadillas and enjoyed them so much that he didn’t even share a bite with me, haha! They also had a great selection of vegetarian options. For dessert, we couldn't resist trying the fried ice cream, and it was delicious. We will definitely be returning!"

"when they first come to the restaurant, the flure that lead to the sitting places can be a bit narrow, but then it opens up in a cozy room with a lot of space to sit. there is a lot to choose from on the menu, and it was hard to choose what I wanted to order because everything sounds amazing. I chose the grilled fish plate with a sprit as my drink. that was delicious. the fish fell into my mouth apart, and the sauce they put up was mouthwatering. they also have free chips and salsa that they exhibit for guests. the chips come freshly made and they fill them regularly after. if you? wonder if this place has a decent children's menu, there are some options to choose on it. Overall there is something to please everyone, from picky eating to the adventurous tastestester. the employees were also nice and often checked us. tldr: eating is great, many menu options, great atmosphere, and the personal is amazing."

"Inedible. Inedible. Too much salt! Haven 't eaten here since the latest anti Semitic incident occurred (3 years ago) so tonite I ordered thru Postmates. I don 't need to encourage young Hispanic misogynists/anti Semites. Postmates now registers as Übereats. Corp BS I guess. Tonite I went hog wild: 3 enchiladas my way plus an order of Chili Colorado. Of which there really is no standard for Chili Colorado. $50 total delivered. Seriously. In any event, here 's the first report: Everything EVERYTHING WAS TOO SALTY TO EAT. Inedible. I took one bite of each and threw it. $50 TOO SALTY TO EAT. NICE. NO ONE HERE lIS TASTING THE FOOD. IT 'S WAY TO SALTY. Came with a bunch of side orders. Or at least packed that way. 4oz containers, larger containers, why not mark them? WTF, are they lazy? I say so. I MEAN, I don 't know what they are. That 's just lazy. Weak. I Just now changed my rating here from 2 stars total to one. You 're just lazy. Even the rice wasn 't correct. Dried out, no flavor. Barely colored. No flavor left from before or ever. This rice was never a Spanish rice, a Mexican rice. Ever. A very poor, poor effort. The Chile Colorado was a complex concoction of nothing. Tasted like someone cared and ended up without a flavor. Another $16 entry that amounted to nothing. The guacamole was tasteless. No flavor. Like packaged. A blob. Thanks for not one but two globs of nothing. $50 completely down the drain. Hey Kitchen! Taste the food! Hey Management: Taste the food. And then ask your kitchen if they tasted the food. If it matters. To all and it should matter. $50 I 'll never get back. When I think about it, out of 10 meals here, give or take, I 've now had at least 10 BAD MEALS HERE and I 'm NOT GOING BACK. Ever. Very poor."

"There is not anyway to leave zero star rating, so here goes. Not quite the price shocker I was expecting for lunch on a simple $6.40 half order of Nachos. It sounds like a great price for lunch right? Wrong!!!! Absolutely ridiculous pricing for pickled fresh jalapeños . Not to mention the most offensive abbreviation for Jalapeños referred to as Japs . The server informed me that pricing what not something she could change and pointed to the Owners as the issue with charging $1.99 for jalapeños and $2.49 for fresh jalapeños. Not to mention these were small ramkim side pricing. Needless to say, you can make all the quirky slogans on your ground sign, so just make sure you also disclose over pricing for condiments that should be at least $0.99. I just won 't recommend this place, but hope to hear back from owners or management."

"First time visiting, went because it had a 4star rating. When we initially pulled up at around 7 there was only a couple of cars in the parking lot which was weird. We go in and the place was in deed empty. They serve chips and salsa which was good. We got margaritas which was Awful. I had a peach margarita, tasted like pre-made mix you can get out of Walmart with some thick peach syrup on top. I could not finish it. I got the combo Enchiladas, the food reminded me more of Rosa's Cafe not an authentic Mexican restaurant. Would not return."
