"I was impressed by how good the food was the first time, but there was a regression in the quality of his food, when I recently visited last week. Now, to be clear, it is NOT because I don 't think the food isn 't generally good, rather, he did not care. He was in a hurry, and he made sure. I knew that. For example, he said he didn 't serve Longanisa in the afternoon, but really? That is a staple dish, served any time of day. I asked for three different dishes and he looked obviously irritated, and was dismissive. Excuse me for the inconvenience of wanting to try your food. As a Filipino who just moved from San Francisco to New Orleans, I was eager to support another Filipino, especially in these tough times. But, this Chef is only interested in large orders, as you 'll see in his posts. Last time I ate there last week, both the rice and Sisig were undercooked. He told me I should 've called earlier, when in fact, I did...thrice! No answer. I don 't know if he dislikes American-Born Filipinos or whatever his issue is, but a critique of his restaurant and service, prior to me ever going there (by other Filipinos at that), is now justified. Again, I wanted so much to be a regular, but I am so turned off by his attitude, that it 's NOT worth going back. He was disrespectful and I don 't care how good a Chef you are, when you treat customers like that, your reputation will catch up with you sooner or later."

"Instead of the usual friendly service, he abruptly stopped processing my credit card and asked, “You’re not going to pour that drink into that cup and take it outside, are you?” Seriously, what? I was just finishing a cup of watered-down lemonade and planned to throw it away. As a professional and a lifelong Charleston resident, I’m a responsible patron who tips well and values good service. While I’m hesitant to say I was offended, the bartender’s accusatory tone was completely unnecessary. It’s going to take some time before I return to one of my favorite neighborhood spots, especially if he’s behind the bar. If he was genuinely concerned about my drink, a simple request like, “I’m sorry, but could you finish that quickly and toss the cup? I’d be happy to give you a fresh ice water, but we can’t allow outside cups here,” would have sufficed. Frankly, I had forgotten I was even holding the cup! I was just thirsty and enjoying my strawberry lemonade. So, thank you to that rude bartender with a security-guard mentality for ruining my experience and my evening. Despite this, I still left a generous 20% tip, as I believe in being above such negativity. I sincerely hope the owners provide better training for their bartenders to prevent driving away loyal customers. Perhaps it won’t matter to them anymore, now that they’ve received an award from the City Paper. It’s truly disappointing. My company hosts their annual Christmas party here, but I’ll have to think carefully about our plans for this season. I’m feeling quite let down, and it’s disappointing to see such hostility from a neighborhood bar."
