"Talpa has been our go to Mexican restaurant for 40+ years. There 's a reason it 's survived the LA restaurant scene . Food is great; fresh, hot (heatwise) not just warmed up. Best guacamole just good avocados with no frills. Salsa is roasted and delicious. They 've added a full bar so you can have a margarita if you 'd like. We thought that after the long time owners sold it we 'd be disappointed, but not so. We are still loyal customers, coming back time after time for the great food and our favorite waitresses, Selina and Paula."

"greeted and was seated immediately though from our party were running late (we were total). we were immediately served chips n salsa, which i must say was fresh w/ a nice spice blend. timing was right as we placed our order when our late attendees had just arrived. nice ambiance. seated in area what seemed like a dance room with a dj booth off to one corner. took a while to wave down our waiter for water refills. mexican music was playing which i liked but we caught ourselves yelling over the table and straining to hear each other and had to ask to have the volume turned down. everyone liked their plates. though, when mine arrived it was not hot, seemed it sat and cooled since i was served last at our table noticing too that our neighboring table of was being served at the same time. i had the carne asada enchilada. i picked up what seemed like tendon that was hard to chew and dare not swallow. but over all it was ok. i do plan to go back, however, will try a different dish next time around."

"**June 25, 2022:** I had the Surf & Turf Burrito today, served wet with salsa verde, and let me tell you, this burrito is massive! It was both delicious and filling—make sure not to munch on too many chips beforehand, or you might struggle to finish it! **June 11, 2022:** For lunch, I tried the Camarones A La Plancha, which included a generous amount of pan-fried shrimp served with rice, beans, salad, and shredded lettuce. It was delightful! **June 4, 2022:** We dined here for the first time for dinner, and I ordered the Chile Verde dinner. The pork was incredibly tender, and there was plenty of tasty food on my plate! **May 21, 2022:** The Albondigas Soup was really flavorful, featuring four delicious meatballs that hit the spot. **May 8, 2022:** On a cool spring day, the Birria was just what I needed! It was a substantial bowl of beef soup, packed with flavorful beef, and with the addition of their handmade tortillas, I had no room left for dessert! **April 24, 2022:** The Super Tacos are truly super, and they're even better on Sundays when they're made with fresh homemade tortillas—those tortillas are only made on Sundays! Just a note: this restaurant opened about 10-11 months ago, so any reviews older than that likely reflect the previous establishment. **April 3, 2022:** I tried the street tacos, which came with four different fillings, and they were very good! Next time, I plan to try the Super Tacos with their homemade tortillas. The owner mentioned that they could make the street tacos using their own tortillas as well. **March 20, 2022:** I had the chance to try the Carne En Su Jugo, a special dish from the owner’s home state of Jalisco. It was delicious—a beef stew combined with bacon, beans, diced onions, and avocado. They even showed me how they prepare the tortillas fresh to order in the kitchen. I took some pictures of the process today! **March 13, 2022:** I believe this place is a new business that opened in the location of another Mexican restaurant that closed during the pandemic. Therefore, older reviews shouldn't be applied to El Tapense. We enjoyed our visit so much last Sunday that we returned to explore more items on the menu! First, we tried the Vegan Sopa Azteca. Wow, this creamy and rich soup was more like a stew. Next, the Albondigas Soup was just perfect for a cool, cloudy day. I would order it again when I have the chance to try more menu options. Lastly, we revisited the Two Vegan Enchiladas, and we can’t wait to come back next Sunday to try something new—hopefully, we’ll get to enjoy some fresh house-made tortillas! **March 6, 2022:** This was our first visit to El Talpense. We arrived just as they opened on Sunday and were drawn in by a menu that spans 7-8 pages, including a dedicated section for vegan items along with all the classic offerings you’d hope to see at a Mexican restaurant. I ordered the Chorizo Con Huevo, an Al Pastor Taco, chips, and guacamole. We definitely need to come back next week to sample more items from that extensive menu. I also asked the owner if they'll be offering a vegan version of the Chorizo Con Huevo, and they are currently working on it to achieve results similar to what I had today!"

"I called to book a reservation and was told that the restaurant doesn't accept them. The hostess also warned that if we didn't arrive before 11:30 AM, we might not find a table. However, when we got there, the restaurant was empty. The staff seemed eager to seat us quickly, despite the lack of other patrons. Our waiter, David, who worked in the upstairs area, was wonderful. He was friendly, attentive, and made sure our drinks were always full. I highly recommend requesting him for a great dining experience!"

"This is my first time ever at this restaurant and my goodness did they give me quite an amazing first impression! I was there to pick up a doordash order and then while I was waiting for that order another order appeared on my Dasher app and I told him about that one as well. Honestly most of the time when this happens since the second order showed up at the restaurant yeah the restaurant would end up being late unless they had already ed didn't get advance before I even showed up, but no they came through and both of my orders were ready on time. And I'd like to emphasize how this has impressed me so much. There were literally only two employees there. One making the food and the other handling the customer service. This Duo was perfect! You know a lot of restaurants that have a lot more employees working at the same time could really learn a thing or two from here because there's a lot of restaurants I go to that have way more employees and just cannot get orders done on time. You can look through my reviews to see some of them But this restaurant has given me an amazing first impression. See I'm from Santa Rosa so I typically try to work in Santa Rosa but lately doordash has been a lot slower than it used to be so I've had to travel abroad a little more and had to work in Sonoma which isn't new to me I've worked in sonoma, but because I don't usually work here it's the Wonder this is the first time I've gone through this restaurant and hopefully I'll get more orders from here as long as I do work in Sonoma because they did such a great job"

"Food was below average. The garlic shrimp was dry menu said buttery garlic sauce. No sauce. The waiter took our order 20 minutes later comes back to let us know there is only one fried fish we ordered 3. So we ordered fish tacos and a cheeseburger from kids menu. I ordered chicken nuggets for my grand daughter 56 minutes later we got the nuggets. They charged me 4.00 for apple juice for kids menu, when i mentioned it they said it only covers milk and soda not juice for kids meal. My fish tacos were soggy but the fish was ok. They forgot twice my husband tortillas for his shrimp and didn't refill our drinks we had to ask. I would understand if they were super busy but the waitresses were standing around joking at the cash register bar area. We got all of our food except the kids mw chicken nuggets I mentioned we ordered a meal a chicken nugget meal he brought us milk. I don't know how he got that wrong . Overall experience was bad service, bad food. Very disappointing for the prices."

"I wanted to like this place, however the customer service was awful. The cashier who called himself “William” cared more about practicing his Spanish than actually paying attention to his job. Having had to make a second trip to rectify his error, he had the audacity to accuse me of being the problem. He then informed me that he was in his “defensive” mode and that it “wasn’t his job to make sure that the orders were complete” for pick up. "This restaurant truly exceeds expectations in terms of food quality. The carne asada fries are wonderfully crispy and come topped with delicious ingredients like cheese, guacamole, and sour cream. "The food quality is quite good here, we all had steak so can?t say about the other meats. The flank steak is very tender and flavorful, the amount of meat is reasonable given airport prices. There are no complaints except for the guacamole, it is fresh but it is overly seasoned, salt, pepper and even some hot spices in there. Some might like it but I like my guacamole fresh and creamy, so one star off."
